hope the Eels overachieve, I am looking forward to watching the Eels even though it will not be live I'll be watching live and pulling my hair out at the same time!! I hope the Eels prove me wrong with my prediction that they will fail yet again.

I dont have enough hair to pull out, so that isnt an option. Who knows they may overachieve, but I hope like hell that doesnt mean BA gets another contract. That would really suck.

At Parra, it's not whether you win or lose, it's that you participated. LOL They give awards to last placed teams and players at the Eels.

here is a thought, wipe the Eels off the face off the earth and then start again. It couldnt possibly be a worse situation than it is now, could it?

Although, thankfully the NRL don't have a second division like the EPL. Parra would of been relegated by now. Imagine Eels v Wentworthville Magpies in the Grand Final. That would be embarrassing.

the Eels team looked awesome, but that Jets team looked surprisingly good. I cant believe that the Jets were kicked out 2 years later, along with Souths. You have to seriously wonder about the people that run that game.
Anyway if there was a second division and the Eels played the Jets in the grand final it would not be a huge achievement.

Good summary - Jet were good, but Eels were awesome. Tommy Raudonikis was a very good player, but not in the same league as Kenny and Sterlo. Were the Jets kicked out because they went broke? The Western Suburbs Magpies were almost kicked out in 1984.

I liked Newtown Jets, they were a good blue collar working class area. I think that has changed to yuppieville hasnt it? I dont think the Jets or Souths were as broke as the NRL would have you believe. Newtown was supported by John Singleton, who was super rich and Souths were supported by George Piggins who was also super rich. As stated before the NRL has been run by a bunch of dead beats and it still is. The eels situation is not any better. How unprofessional can a professional sport get?

Newtown is no longer blue collar. It has a large Gay presence. LOL And like you say, yuppie's with cafes and other groups of people. Sydney has definitely changed since the 80's. The sport is very unprofessional. Not run very good at all. If Rugby League is not careful, they will be run out by AFL, a sport that does everything better except State of Origin football. Maybe we should follow an AFL team? LOL I remember when I was 10 years old, I choose Essendon, but never supported the game.

There is not a hope in hell I would follow AFL. I just dont like the sport. The only reason why it is better than soccer is because they score more points. They do show AFL games here and I have tried watching to open up more avenues of interest, but quite frankly it bores me.
I heard Newtown is a lot like Paddington now. Paddington has some great pubs and restaurants, so I guess the same goes for Newtown now?

Soccer is boring too, unless it's the World Cup, where you can watch your country. I would rate Paddington better. Closer to the City. A better standard.

I wouldnt even watch an AFL grand final. I dont even bother with the soccer world cup for men, they are a bunch of girls. Womans soccer is much better, they play like men. I do actually watch some womans soccer world cup, they are surprisingly good. Leave the men for dead.
So next time I go the Sydney I will go to Paddington rather than Newtown. The last time I was in Sydney was for the 2009 grand final, but I was only there for 4 days.

Can't stand that in soccer. A sport for taking dives!! If Parra never make the Grand Final again, you may never return. Put it this way, you won't be coming to Sydney this year. If you do, just stay around the CBD, but it's expensive.
