they could play worse than they did last season and maybe not get the wooden spoon. I say improve on the way they play and if they still get the wooden spoon at least they put in a better effort, last season there effort was pathetic, embarrassing and ugly. They were so hard to watch, except for the game against the Dragons, they looked great in that game.

Over the past 5 seasons, their attitude and effort has been disgraceful.

2017 they overachieved, so have to give them credit there, every other year back to 2010 disgraceful. All I want to see this year is effort, something lacking in the Eels.

further to last, I saw the trial against the Raiders, considering the Eels had close to full strength team and Raiders had a second string team, the Eels were pretty second rate. Hate to say it. Led 20-0 and still found a way to loose.

Led 20-0 and still found a way to loose. I wouldn't worry too much about trials. They really mean nothing. I remember attending a trial game on the Central Coast in 2002, Eels v Sea Eagles, and with 2 minutes to go, Parra had a small lead and chip kicked 20 metres out from their own line. In a regular season game you wouldn't do that. Trial games are just a hit out.

Here is the report. BA took most of the NRL players off in the final quarter. That explains why they lost.

Eels throw away 20-point lead against Raiders in thrilling NRL trial
Parramatta have thrown away a 20-point lead against Canberra to go down 22-20 in the NRL trial at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday night.
The Raiders scored two tries in the final two minutes to Sam Williams and Andre Niko to level the scores, before Williams slotted the final conversion from the sideline to steal the win.
The Eels, who fielded a strong team for the first half, led 20-0 after 33 minutes after tries to Ethan Parry (two), Jaeman Salmon and Michael Jennings.
Despite letting their lead slip, there were encouraging signs for the Eels.
Moses was involved in the Eels’ first three tries while young five-eighth Dylan Brown also impressed in their first outing as a halves combination.
Brad Arthur ran out the majority of his top squad for the opening hour with fullback Clint Gutherson also setting up two tries and Reed Mahoney edging closer to the No.9 jersey for round one against Penrith.
Brown looked at his best when he took the ball to the line, in one instance putting Canberra on the back foot in the lead up to a Michael Jennings try from a Gutherson grubber.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart opted for a largely inexperienced team and it was once of those players in Tom Starling who scored before the break to make it 20-6.
The Raiders continued their momentum after halftime and were rewarded when new recruit JJ Collins scored to top off what was his birthday.
Arthur took most of his NRL players off for the final quarter of the game and it was then where the Green Machine took advantage.
Williams dived over near the posts two minutes before full-time, before the halfback scooped a loose ball and passed to Niko who ran 70 metres to level the scores at 20-all as the siren sounded.
Canberra Raiders 22 (T.Starling, J.Collins, S.Williams, A.Niko tries; S .Williams 3 goals) beat Parramatta Eels 20 (E.Parry 2, J.Salmon, M.Jennings; M.Moses 2 goals)

true, trials dont mean all that much, but they do give you some idea how you team is. The Eels were going OK, until BA took most of the players off, to avoid possible injuries. Whereas, Ricky Stuart has been convinced the Raiders have it in them for amazing comebacks while being completely oblivious to Parra fielding a reserve team in the last quarter. LOL He thinks the Raiders can win the comp now!!

Let Stuart think that, he is an asshole of the purest form. I remember when Stuart was coach and seeing on the Eels website their membership drive, "Are you in, we're in!! Then he took off!! LOL

he was a complete asshole, I have really wanted the Raiders to come last under his watch, but they have underachieved with him as coach. He just isnt a good coach.

Good to see the Raiders struggle. He won a premiership at the Roosters in 2002 on the back of previous coaches Phil Gould and Graham Murray and Brad Fittler as captain.

The Roosters had a team worthy of a good RORT when Stuart was coach. They should have won 3 under his watch but only won one. Even with the best team he still failed.
