I wouldnt have minded at all if the Eels got Hasler, as he does get positive results. He has good game plans and BA basically has none. There is definitely no plan B with BA.

And the one good year BA had in 2017, just came down to the players putting in a big effort and Gutherson playing out of his skin until he got injured for the season. But it was always going to be BA, because at the time of appointing a coach, there was only Jason Taylor and Steve Folkes to chose from. JT was never going to win a title and Steve Folkes was out-dated.

Steve Folkes died didnt he? Jason Taylor did a good job for the half season he was at the Eels but since has been pretty bad at best. 30 years of lousy coaches and lousy halfbacks when is it going to end?

Steve Folkes died, but I remember when Parra were looking for a coach, Folkes put up his hand and said, I'll coach the dark side". JT was only a good assistant coach. The bad run may never end. I can see myself 30 years from now still talking about the 80's.

the 80's sure was a special time, with a super team and a super coach. Even if they come good anytime soon the 80's will still always hold a special place. We never did have the strongest forwards except for Ray Price, but the backline was sensational, one of the best ever. Most of those backs made up the NSW origin team, and represented Australia.

Manly in 1982 and 1983 could match Parra in the forwards, but their backline, especially in the halves were no match. Brett Kenny & Peter Sterling v Alan Thompson & Phil Blake in the 1982 Grand Final. Manly didn't stand a chance!! LOL But Manly were still a decent team, they had 7 players on the Kangaroo tour that year, 1 more than Parra.

Alan Thompson and Phil Blake were both very good, but compared to Sterlo and Brett Kenny they didnt match up. Manly had a better forward pack than the Eels, but the Eels forwards hung in well, basically over-achieved. Except for 2009 the Eels never over-achieve anymore. OK, granted they probably over-achieved in 2017 as proven by 2018.

As for 2017, I cannot understand how the Eels put in such a big effort, but all the other years under BA were ordinary. In 2017, the Eels even had numerous injuries, but they still put in a big effort. One-hit wonders!!

who know, maybe 2019 will be like 2017. I dont think it will but hoping as a supporter for the best. I am not even sure that BA will see out the end of the season.

I've already written off 2019. 0-5 at the start of the season and another wooden spoon. And not only will BA see out the season, he will sign for another 5 years. Not sure who would be the stand-out player for this year? I don't have faith in Mitchell Moses and Gutherson could possibly be just a one-hit wonder. We'll find out in a few months time.

looking forward to the season ahead. I really hope the Eels do better than last. I will still watch them every week even though I rarely see them live. Never want to know the score before i watch the game, so it is like watching live. I dont have much faith in Mitchell Moses either. The curse of the number 7 continues. I will give Gutherson the benefit of the doubt and say he will have a good year. Surely the Eels would not be that stupid to sign BA for 5 more years? Sorry we are talking about the Eels here. Stupidity is standard equipment with the Eels.

further to last, here is a thought, why not sign Shane Flanagan, a proven excellent coach. What he did to be de registered by the NRL isnt all that bad. Many would have done the same. I guess he may be too good of a coach for the Eels? There is talk about Trent Barrett joining the Eels, please dont be that stupid, he is useless. Can we move forward without stupidity involved?

I would take Flanagan over BA and Trent Barrett combined, but this is Parra we are talking about. If BA can't get Parra firing on all cylinders this year, he should be axed. No more excuses and no more spoons!!

I can stream the game live, or watch it at a later time. It costs me about $200 a year but I think it is worth it. I would go after Flanagan at any cost. Proven to be successful, he would probably be the best signing since John Monie, if the Eels are smart enough to get him?

But is Flanagan available? On 19 December 2018, Flanagan was de-registered as a coach indefinitely for failing to adhere to the conditions of his suspension in 2014. The NRL integrity unit had found that Flanagan had sent more than fifty emails exchanged between Flanagan, club management and the football department which was strictly against the conditions of his suspension which included that Flanagan was to have no contact or involvement with the club during his ban. The NRL also fined Cronulla $800,000 as punishment. Wikipedia
