1998, the year the Eels had the game won with 10 mins to go and the slimy dogs came back. That was a really hard one to swallow. I was at the game. And Darryl Halligan was kicking goals from the sideline right in front of me. The greatest seats in the house for a Bulldogs comeback. It was terrible. I thought with 15 mins to go Parra were in the GF.

it was very embarrassing, and dog fans still rub that one in. If the tables were turned I guess i would use it against the dog fans.

Parra beating the Dogs in the 2009 Grand Final Qualifier in front of 74,000 fans was similar. Parra went on a roll from 8th position on the ladder beating the higher placed Bulldogs. Lost the GF, but beating the Dogs was a good feeling.

any time the Eels beat the Dogs is a good feeling, in the playoffs even better.

NFL has become a lot softer as well, all sports are trying to wipe out concussion, and rightfully so, but it does impact the game and makes for a softer spectacle.

And the QB is more protected these days. The NRL became softer as well for the same reasons, not allowing shoulder charges and tackling a player in mid air.

both games are not quite as good, as a consequence, but still fun to watch. I hate when the season ends for both codes.

RL should start in Feb rather than March, maybe a bit too hot? Isn't Feb the hottest month of the year? Although, with global warming, I don't think the weather cools down until April / May these days. 30 years ago it was freezing in March!!
