Brian Smith wasnt good at getting a team over the final hurdle. His coaching career proved that Yep. The choker!!

have to say that we havent done very good with coaches since Brian Smith. It's been appalling and has resulted in wooden spoons. It's all been downhill since Jack Gibson.

hard to do better than Jack Gibson. On the subject of coaches, sad how all those other teams are getting there man and we are stuck with a poor excuse for a coach. Not any great signings either. Stay tuned for another miserable season.

Stay tuned for another miserable season. I remember in the early 90's when Parra had an ordinary team, but they still gave 100%. I'd rather that team, than this current lot.

I dont remember the year, but it was in the 90's and half the Eels team was playing in England and due back halfway through the season. The close to reserve grade team were awesome, they put in week in week out, this current mob are a bunch of bums.

Parra even beat a full strength Bulldogs team at Belmore without those players. 1985 Eels v Bulldogs Kenny v Sterlo Those were the days when Parra had heart!!

funny that Denis Fitzgerald was in charge then. He was good early on but became too big headed and a bum later on. I think you meant 1995?

Only a terrible Cowboys team in their first year saved Parra from the spoon. The year you're talking about is 1985. In 1995, no Parra players were over in England at the start of the season.

sorry I got my decades nixed up, you are 100% correct I remember it like it was yesterday. Waiting for Sterlo and Kenny to comeback. Unfortunately, 1985 ended in a bad way after such a good year. Incredible the Dogs won 26-0 in the Preliminary Final. I remember at halftime it was only 4-0.

yes 1995 the Eels stunk to high heaven, the 90's were not good And it's embarrassing that it took something like the Super League war to make Parra competitive again. All those players from the Bulldogs and Sharks left and came to Parra in 1996.

and made the playoffs with those dogs but still choked 1998 was the greatest choke of all time followed by 2001 and then 2005. Geez, the Brian Smith days had a soul destroying end every year.
