the grave digger is proving to be average at best, most other club have a competent CEO. It seems an impossible thing to achieve with the Eels. For that matter a coach is pretty hard to come by as well. Let's be honest, Eels have only been really good, 1976-1986. Made the finals in the mid 60's and two grand finals in the past 20 years, but have struggled to succeed outside that great decade. Not to mention the second most wooden spoons behind Western Suburbs Magpies who no longer exist. How does a successful CEO come from that?

that is all in the past and we should be looking to the future in a positive way, not all this mediocre crap that keeps happening with the Eels. The only positive is the fact that they have a really good team, but lack a coach.

Gutho appears to be intelligent, but I'm a little worried about Junior Paulo. I guess junior is one of the main forwards and can lead on the field, but his presentation was not the best. What's with the water bottle? He seemed nervous!!

Junior looked nervous. I have thought the past year that Nathan Brown should be captain so good to see him there. I dont know if 5 leaders is a good idea, I guess time will tell. If this means relying less on the janitor then it is shear genius.

Only the elite players don't need guidance. Another thing, and it's probably not possible to determine because you can't get into the heads of those players, but I would like to know how much of the janitor's coaching rubs off on the players? Maybe what you see on the field has nothing to do with the janitors gibberish to the players.

Maybe Joey Johns is coaching the whole team at present, I hope so. He has knowledge and he does not even have to be a great coach. If he is the janitor can sit back and take all the accolades.

Parramatta Eels Stefano Utoikamanu
Date of Birth: May 15, 2000 Position: Prop NRL appearances: Yet to debut Representative honours: NSW under 20s (2019), NSW under 18s (2018), Australian Secondary Schools under 15s (2015)
Unfortunately for Parramatta, they'll only get to enjoy Stefano Utoikamanu's services this year before the devastating prop joins Wests Tigers.
Ranked among the best up-and-coming forwards, Utoikamanu was upgraded to a top-30 NRL deal in January, seemingly indicating an Eels debut isn't far away.
The 19-year-old, who is listed as weighing 115kg, cut his teeth with Wentworthville in the Canterbury Cup NSW last season where he averaged 94 metres per game and tackled at a 92% efficiency rate.
The foolishness that is the Eels. Develop young guys and let other clubs grab them without an effort to retain them. Why bother spending money to develop juniors if this is what they do.

This is a shock to the system that someone is actually tipping the Eels to win the GF.
20. Eels to win NRL premiership Thought we'd save the best to last, right? You start to get the feeling that something big is brewing at Parramatta after a big 2019 season and some major signings for 2020. Could league's sleeping giant be about to be woken up? Excitement machines Dylan Brown and Maika Sivo will be in their second full year of grade, while Mitch Moses and Blake Ferguson are playing career-best footy. The additions of former premiership winner Ryan Matterson and the aforementioned Campbell-Gillard are huge for the club, while Brad Arthur's respect from his players has never been clearer. And another addition has gone under the radar - rugby league Immortal Andrew 'Joey' Johns will be mentoring the Eels halves in 2020 and that could prove a huge point of difference for them. If they can consistently play at their best, Parra are going to be awfully hard to beat and the balance in their squad is the best its been in a loooooong time.

Don't agree with the Eels winning the grand final unless the top sides are weakened this year, but even then I would still question. Why not look for the next Andrew Johns rather than Joey helping!!

The Eels do have a good enough team to win it all. They only need to be shown the right way to go about it and dont have that at present. I hope Joey Johns tells the janitor "just sit in your office and I will take care of these guys and make you look good."

I hope Joey Johns tells the janitor "just sit in your office and I will take care of these guys and make you look good." But the Eels defence is horrible. To win a title a team needs a defence just as good or even better than their offence. Eels have no problem scoring points, they can score from anywhere on the field. Who is going to fix that defence?

Johns in control could fix the defense. The janitor has no hope. The janitor should just stick to what he knows best and leave the team in the hands of anyone that has some idea on coaching. You are so right about the defense, look at the last GF it was all defense. Both those teams would have blown the Eels out of the water in that game.

Johns can definitely coach the halves in offense and probably defence as well, cause he played the game at the highest level. The janitor didn't even crack first grade. Eels have a coach that has no idea on the top grade.

Johns does not even have to be a good coach, he just has to have some idea of coaching to get this team to perform. I dont think a coach has to make first grade to bee a good coach. The fact is that the janitor cant coach regardless of his past playing history.

The fact is that the janitor cant coach regardless of his past playing history. Only the Eels could pay someone 1 million a season to end with a belting by the Melbourne Storm. That game showed up the Janitor, the previous week the Broncos had no halves. A host of exciting young talent including Jaeman Salmon, Rhys Davies, Haze Dunster and Stefano Utoikamanu will also make the trip to Perth.
