just the type of player the Eels needed, but missed out again. The Knights are looking like an elite team this coming season. If they miss the playoffs the coach will be gone. I don't think the Eels forwards are the problem. Klemmer would have been a worthy signing, but Parra need better halves.

I think the forwards and the halves are a problem. They have 2 good forwards in Nathan Brown and A'ua. Paulo is too inconsistent, Bring back Fui. The halves just dont gel, and Jennings is an over the hill center.

I thought Tim Mannah did OK coming off the bench, I dont rate him at all as a starter. Hopefully that Lane dude from Manly will add something. I dont know much about him?

I don't know much about the Manly player either, but he will most likely be another Darcy Lussick. A dud!! Why can't we ever develope great players?

the 80's was a great decade for developing players, when it ended so did the development of players. It seems a number of really good players around the NRL are Eels juniors , that never played in blue and gold.

I would live the rest of my days in the 80s if I could. But yeah, how awesome was Parra back then.

The only thing I didnt like about the Eels in the 80's was that they played at Belmore up until 1986. I hated that ground. I went to a lot of games there unfortunately.

Last time I went there was in 1998. The Eels beat the Bulldogs 7-6 in the rain. I also remember going there in 1993 and seeing Parra get belted 42-6. At least you saw them at Belmore during the glory years.

should have had a better ground than that during there glory years. There were a lot of really poor grounds back then. Lidcombe Oval would have been the worst, but I have to say I liked the atmosphere there, during the Roy Masters era. Cumberland oval would have been equal to Lidcombe oval.

Here is a picture of Lidcombe Oval. Unfortunately I never attended a game there.

You probably went to Cumberland Oval, both similar. Cumberland was probably slightly larger, but both were sub standard. It was a nightmare getting out of the parking lot at Lidcombe Oval, one time it took an hour and a half.

I didn't attend my first rugby league game until 1985. I remember seeing Parra v Penrith at Penrith Park. I started following Parra around 1979 / 1980 when I was 5 years old. I watched all the games on TV of course back then.
