unless you support the 9ers most people would have never heard of Jarryd Hayne in all honesty. There was not a big thing made about him coming to play in the NFL. Wow!! I thought NFL fans all over the country tuned into this!! Only 9ers fans. Well I guess he wasn't a QB, running back or wide receiver.

I hate Brookvale Oval. The ground is terrible and the supporters are even worse. I always loved watching Manly lose. Unfortunately is didnt ever happen enough. They have been competitive since day 1 and the most successful in the modern era. We stumbled across a bit of luck and fortune in the 80's.

the stadium is ready to go in a week as the sod settles in. The Eels first game is in Penrith anyway, at that lousy stadium. The game against the Roosters should have been played at the new stadium.

he was a failed running back. I only knew about it because I follow the Eels, so tried to find out about him. Also the 9ers were really lousy that year so didnt make any major games.

The transition to NFL from League will never be successful unless you have been playing NFL for a long time. Only AFL players can make the NFL by becoming punters.

Roosters don't have any fans, or fans that travel, so it wouldn't be a sell-out. Eels v Tigers easily a sell-out.

yes, they are both such different games. I love the NFL, but the NRL is much more enjoyable in my mind. There are a fair few AFL players in the NFL. I wonder if scouts go to Australia to watch them in action and pick out the guys they like?

League is enjoyable, because it's fast and there is so much happening - scoring tries, kicking goals, tackling, running, kicking, passing, set moves etc Don't know how the AFL players get noticed, because I don't follow AFL. If you lived in Melbourne, AFL would be everywhere you look. The game is massive down there.

I wouldn't say they are the only club that have a smaller supporter base that don't travel. Panthers and Sharks are known for only getting decent crowds at home. Their fans just don't travel. Better to see teams playing in the finals like Eels, Bulldogs, Tigers and Dragons from Sydney. Heaps of supporters.

you know, when I went to that grand final in 2009 I could not believe how many Melbourne supporters were at the ground. I thought it would be wall to wall Eels supporters but I was wrong.

yes I know Melbourne is AFL crazy. It is a religion down there. Rugby League is far from a religion in Sydney. I guess there is more to do in Sydney and the weather is better.

Everyone in Sydney has a team though. No matter who you talk to they follow an NRL team. As for AFL, only a particular group follow that game. But I know what you are saying, the crowds in Sydney aren't always that great.

Would of been more Eels though!! But yeah, the game has probably grown down there. I remember the 2001 Grand Final and the amount of Knights fans. There were heaps!!
