I totally agree with you on the Evil Empire, but I would love to see them booted from the game. I am sure anyone who has anything to do with North Sydney would agree with me. I guess it is good to have a team that you really dislike, but there are still the dogs. To me it is a toss of the coin who I hate more each season. This season I dislike the Evil Empire more. Brisbane would have most of southern Qld to pick from as local juniors, but it seems a lot of the best go to the Storm. The Storm must have some awesome talent scouts, something that the Eels are sorely lacking in. I don't think Manly would be punted, besides what would be the criteria? I think Manly would have enough wealthy supporters to back the club if it came down to that. Whereas, Sharks are a bunch of nobodies and I don't think I have ever met a Sharks fan. Broncos are starting to look ordinary. No premierships since 2006, that's bad considering their junior base and they are a one team town from a capital city!! Eels have no talent scouts, just a janitor who reads big league every week. Storm are the best cheats in the game.

I actually dont think any team should be punted, just put 2 more teams in. The Central Coast Bears should be a certainty. One of my good friends when I still lived in Sydney was a Sharks fan. For what reason I have no idea.
Yes, the Storm are cheats but have to give them credit how they keep coming up with great players from nowhere. That fullback they have now is awesome. I wish the Eels had more than a janitor who cleans the floors and toilets great, but cant pick talent to save his life.

It should be currently 14 teams, not 16 and definitely not 18. Your friend the Sharks fan was rare!! They definitely don't have the supporter base. You watch, if they make the finals, the crowd figure will struggle to reach 20,000. Storm are a professional club and also a bunch of cheats, that's a successful combination. LOL Can't lose!!

I was at the 2009 GF and the amount of Storm fans amazed me. I dont know if they came up from Melbourne or there is a large amount in Sydney?
The Sharks game against the Raiders was a full house and there were only about 16K I believe. That is pathetic.

They're sports mad down there and must have created a decent following over the years. I was at the 2001 Grand Final and there were heaps of Knights fans. Sharks don't have many fans and they only represent a small area of Sydney - the Shire. Just a break-away from the Dragons area. Maybe OK for 1967, but not today when trying to expand the game.

there would have been almost as many Storm fans as there was Eels fans at that GF. It amazed me.
I wouldnt really care if the Sharks became a part of ancient NRL history. I think a team from the Central Coast should be the next team brought into the NRL.

Besides financial problems, represent a small area, small supporter base, no one would notice they're gone, because what great rivalries do they have besides maybe the Dragons. Only won one premiership in over 50 years.

at least the Sharks have won 1 premiership in the last few years, why not get rid of the Eels because they have not won in over 30 years? As far as the Sharks go I hope they lose this week to the Tigers, because they could be a bit of a danger team in the playoffs. They have a good team and I think John Morris is learning how to be a good coach.

Sure no Premiership in 33 years, but they have a lot to offer the game. Parra really should win in week 1 of the finals, because the game will be at Bankwest. Parra are very hard to beat there.

the Dogs beat them there, that was a terrible loss. If the Eels play the Tigers I think they will win. I think if they play the Sharks it is even money. Maybe they should have come 6th and play the Broncos, cant believe the Broncos got hammered by the Dogs.
The Eels sure do offer the game a lot. It is the heart of Sydney, they have a huge supporter base, plus they have a good knack of making the news all the time. I dont for one second ever think they should be booted.

Wests Tigers and Sharks playing right now. 6-4 Sharks, early second half. Nothing between these two, but I don't want Parra to play either one. You would think Parra would belt both of them, but they can be dangerous on their day, whereas the Broncos are predictable. Yeah, no way would the NRL punt the Eels, but if they did AFL and soccer could get a bigger hold on that area. GWS Giants won in the AFL this weekend, but they were criticised for such a small crowd. Their ground only has a capacity of 24,000, but there were sections of the grandstand empty. It appears Rugby League is winning the war in the west.

I think the Sharks will beat the Evil Empire this week. The Sharks are a danger team. The Broncos have 2 great young forwards but dont have much else at present.
The Western Suburbs has always been Rugby League territory, why the hell that lousy AFL are trying to get a foothold there is beyond me. They never will. When are the AFL playoffs?

I agree, Sharks will win. Manly have many injuries. Broncos have nothing in the halves, Brown and Moses should capitalise, unless they have another quiet game against the Broncos. AFL try and compete with the NRL all the time. They move into the western suburbs, the Gold Coast and take a few home games to Canberra. AFL had their first week of finals on the weekend. I only look at the final scores, I don't watch the games or even the highlights. I'm glad I never grew up in Melbourne, otherwise I'd be a diehard AFL fan. YUK!! LOL I think Collingwood won. Brisbane lost.

I really hope this playoff week is good allround. I really want the Sharks to win, the storm to beat the raiders, the rabbits to beat the roosters. Do I think all that will happen, hell no.
Dont give 2 hoots about the AFL, a waste of my time as far as I am concerned.

Smallest crowd will be in Melbourne. Should be a good weekend in footy.
