there is no hope in hell that BA will bring a premiership back to Cumberland. BA may bring a medal back to Cumberland for the World Janitorial Championships. He definitely shows talent, the big problem is that he is not a coach. The Eels are awesome at producing one hit wonders in the halfback position. I hope like hell that Moses moves to the next level, but we will see? I would like to see Andrew Johns work part time with Moses. BA does not have the ability to get the very best out of anyone unless they are sitting on one of his toilets. It would not surprise me if BA is fired midway through 2020.

I like that!! New video downloaded on this site in the container plugin at the bottom of the site - Eels v Dragons at Cumberland. BA fired in 2020!! The club is not really a good judge of character. They think the world of BA right now. What makes you think they might change their mind? I think BA will sneak into the top 8 next year, which will guarantee him a new 3 year contract. Remember, his contract is based on the position the Eels finish on the ladder after 25 rounds, not premierships or minor premierships.

Surely the front office will start to realize that there is a huge difference to just making the playoffs and actually being a contender, are they that stupid that they cant see it? I dont think the Eels will make the playoffs next season anyway? They have an awesome backline but the forwards dont put in. I will say this that halfway through the season the Eels will be well short of making the playoffs and BA gets fired, they then go on a strong run and do make the playoffs with David Kidwell as caretaker coach. They then sign Kidwell who is lousy for 5 years and fail miserably. The way of the Eel.

They then sign Kidwell who is lousy for 5 years and fail miserably. The way of the Eel. Every Premiership winning team needs a stand out front rower. Tonight's Grand Final will feature Josh Papalii (Raiders) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Roosters). Eels don't have the front rower that can make a difference. Junior Paulo made decent yards this year, but still needs improvement. When the Eels won in 1986, the front-rowers were Terry Leabeater and Geoff Bugden. Eels signed Brian Smith for another 5 years in 2001 mid season. Eels lost the Grand Final and were then stuck with BS who made the finals in 2002 and 2005 but failed again miserably, before leaving mid way through the season in 2006. I guess coaches need time to build a successful team, but the club should know after three seasons if that coach will achieve success.

That was an incredible defensive effort by the Roosters. It was all Raiders from the 25th minute, but the Roosters hung in there and found one more try to win the game. Ricky Stuart must be filthy about the ref waving six again and then changing his mind when the tackle was made. I'm sure he'll complain about the referee. LOL

NRL grand final: Ricky Stuart denies NRL gag order after controversial six-again call against Canberra Raiders
Ricky Stuart denied the NRL had gagged him from ripping into the match officials after a highly contentious decision late in the grand final tilted the match the Roosters’ way.
With Canberra deep in attack with eight minutes left, referee Ben Cummins signalled six again before rescinding his decisions and ordering a handover, leaving Raiders players confused and angry.
The Roosters scored from the next set to go ahead 14-8 and hold on to become the game’s first back-to-back premiers in 26 years.
Most were expecting the often fiery Stuart to unleash in his post-match press conference but he was instead a picture of calm and graciousness, refusing to bag the decision or the referees and praising the Roosters.
When it was suggested the NRL has asked him not to comment, he replied: “No, it’s my decision.”
Asked if he would speak to referees’ boss Graham Annesley to seek clarification on several decisions, Stuart responded: “Graham wanted to speak to me – I don’t want to speak to him.
“I’m a big enough boy to make my own call.
“You all saw it (the six again call). It’s not the time to talk about it.
“The Roosters achieved something special in winning two grand finals in a row and I don’t want to take the spotlight off that.
“Instead of me saying what I think and getting abused by everyone in regard to my unsportsmanship (sic) manner – you write what you think.”
Stuart revealed he actually went out of his way to thank the match officials at fulltime, believing they had contributed to a memorable grand final.
He said: “The first thing I did when I walked on the field was (go up) to the four officials and congratulated them on a big effort.
“No one goes out there to make a mistake. They have tough jobs.
“If it’s the wrong call there’s not a referee that would go out there to make a mistake, if it is a mistake.
“We don’t look for excuses, we look for solutions
“We could have won it, we didn’t.
“It’s a very empty feeling losing a grand final. It was there to win.”

Love to see Stuart gagged and miserable, it must be killing him. All the credit in the world to the Raiders who were by far and away the better team. The Roosters defense was amazing. For that matter so was the Raiders defense. I hope like hell the Roosters dont make the GF next season. Losing Cronk will be big.
If the Eels are going to do anything at all in playoffs they need to learn to defend like the Roosters and the Raiders. The Eels will never go to the next level if that soft defense doesnt get better. We need a FUI Jr.

We need a FUI Jr. If the Roosters win again next year, they'll equal Parra's current record of the only club to win three in a row since the Dragons won eleven straight. Prior to the Dragons magnificent run, Rabbitohs won three in a row, 1953-55. Roosters losing Cronk will be hard to replace, you would think that would make a difference like the Storm no longer with Cronk and Slater. Stuart might win next year with the Raiders? Yeah, watching that game last night, the Eels are nowhere near that level of the Roosters, Raiders and Storm. Eels may have plenty of points in them, but their defence is paper thin and can't win often away from home. Eels have plenty to work on during the offseason.

If the rorters win next season I will lose a lot of the love I have for the game. It will only show that cheating works when you are good at it. This current GF was not a great spectacle unless you are a defensive purest. The offense was pretty ordinary by both teams. The scores were close which made the game interesting, but iut was nothing like the 1989 GF which was a spectacular game.
I think even with a janitor in charge of the Eels they do have some chance as improving if he works on one thing, and that isnt too much to ask. They have to learn to defend at a much higher level than there soft defense that they have now. The team will be very much the same as it ended this season next season, so work on the defense and the offense will take care of itself. If the Janitor cant deal with just working on defense fire him.

Notice GF's these days don't have any great hype. I guess when the NRL brought in teams from interstate, the Sydney rivalries started to die. I completely agree on the 1989 GF, that game had everything. Players might be more fit, stronger and faster these days, but players back then had character. Many celebrity players in the good old days, whereas todays players all look and play the same. Boring at times!! How does a Janitor improve the defence? Rugby League is not unblocking toilets!! I can't see the Eels going further next year with the same squad of players. The team reached it's full potential. Appears all the best players or the ones that can make a big difference end up at the Storm and Roosters.

I dont for one second think the Eels have reached there full potential. I do however think that they cant reach new heights under this current janitor. Surely whenever we get a new CEO, the front office will finally see what you and me have been saying for a long time. Even the departing CEO probably had huge reservations about the janitor but re-signed him so we could keep Gutherson and Moses? Was that a good decision, I personally think it was a very poor decision. If either of them didnt want to stay at the Eels under a different coach then let them move on.
Back in the 80's forward were much tougher, real men, so the masses like that. These days forwards are a lot softer. Players did have more personality back in the day, but I think that most sports have gone that way. These days the professionalism is so intense that players cant be themselves and have to worry about saying or doing the wrong thing.

A season of highs and lows, but enough to make the finals to be eventually smashed by a far more superior team. BA will not win a premiership or even a minor premiership. Top 4 is possible, but there are no awards for just qualifying for the finals. Gutho and BA are, "you scratch my back, I scratch yours". Gutho may not even want BA to be coach, but if he helps the Janitor secure the coaching role, then BA will make sure Gutho is resigned every season on a decent amount. Bring back the 80's!! What a decade. These days it's not hard to offend someone. Political correctness is everywhere. The world has gone made and no one is really happy anymore. Especially us Parra supporters, haven't won in 34 years, next year.

if the janitor is keeping his job due to Gutherson get rid of Gutherson and fire the janitorial bum. The Eels so badly need a coach.
Political correctness is a load of shit, go back to the 80's in every way. The Eels were great and life was great, the music was awesome, life was great.

I just don't understand why a number of Eels fans think the Janitor is a decent coach? Some think coach of the year after the toilet cleaner took the Eels from 16th to 5th. Do they realise finishing last and winning the wooden spoon was BA!! If the Janitor was decent to begin with, Eels would never have finished last behind Sea Eagles and Bulldogs last year, both ordinary teams compared to Parra. 80's was the best!! That decade was so great, you could be poor and struggling, but live a charmed life!! LOL Today, you could be worth a fortune, but have all sorts of problems.

We will see what those same people think of the janitor next season? I dont think the Eels will excel next season. They have a long history of making the playoffs one season and struggling for a few years after. I doubt that the janitor will be good enough to change that. Lets see what the future brings and lets see those same Eels supporters who think the janitor is good calling for his head on the chopping block.
The 80's really was a great era, Australia even had a decent PM in Bob Hawke back then. Just about everything about that decade was great. Maybe the future will bring another decade as good as the 80's? What goes around usually comes back around?
