I was living in the States and the internet did not cover the NRL very well yet, but I saw a lot of highlights over the year. They were impressive. I felt like they were certainties to win the grand final, but boy did they choke. I did see the grand final live on TV and boy was it disappointing.

I was at the Grand Final and it was obvious by halftime the game was over. The Knights played out of their skin. Their errors must of been 0 in the first 40mins. Plus they had Andrew Johns. Brian Smith was never meant to win a premiership. He even lost with the Roosters in 2010.

sure knew how to choke everywhere he went. I think he coached a team in England that also choked.

LOL Taken from Wikipedia - From 1988 until 1990, Smith was coach of Hull F.C. in England's Championship. In season 1988-89 Hull progressed to the Premiership Final at Old Trafford ultimately losing to Widnes. Hull led the competition when Smith left in January 1991 and went on to win the Premiership Final in May.As soon as he left they won!!

Did BS put too much pressure on the players going into the finals? How could they every year play great football during the regular season, win the minor premiership, and then crash and burn.

he probably did put too much pressure on the players, ho else can you explain it. I guess he never changed his methods in the playoffs and Grand Final. You think he would have learned from his mistakes.

Maybe BS couldn't prepare them mentally for the finals? Finals football is a different ball game.

we had 10 years of him choking. 10 years is a long time in sport. We can blame Fitzgerald for that.

I couldnt agree more with you, that is why the Eels will probably offer BA a new 5 year contract. That is how stupid they are.

If Parra go on a losing streak, BA is gone. And Guth will cry and leave too. They need to put a clause in his contract, no top 8 and you'll get punted.

or even make it this simple, no effort no contract, last year was a disgrace.

the Eels are famous for accepting mediocrity, Fitzgerald was a champion at it, and it has continued ever since.
