I have to tip the Cowboys by 18. I think they look impressive right now after a lousy start to the season. I dont think the Eels would beat them in the playoffs this year either. Beating the Cowboys in Townsville is hard enough just with the hot and humid conditions, but the Eels have poor form and RCG out. Also, no home support. I can't see them winning unless they have an absolute blinder of a game. Stat Attack The Eels average 544 post-contact metres per game, the best in the NRL. The Cowboys rank 13th with 480 per game. Eels back-rower J'maine Hopgood leads the NRL in offloads with 41 and Parra's tally of 226 is the most by any team. The Cowboys have 130 offloads. The Cowboys have won their past five games at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. The Eels have won four of their past five games against the Cowboys. Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater has scored five tries in his past four games. Eels fullback Clint Gutherson has scored seven tries in his past four games. Cowboys utility Jake Granville will make his 200th NRL appearance.

Couldn't care, Eels have a better replacement. Old man Hodgson needs a walking stick. Resigned for next year but Eels will eventually let him go, with Hands playing well.

Stats really mean nothing. The only stat that interests me is a (W) and I cant see that happening this week.

CARTWRIGHT NOT GOING ANYWHERE
Eels backrower Bryce Cartwright has declared he won’t be leaving the Parramatta club despite fielding offers from rival clubs.
The 28-year-old was handed an NRL lifeline in 2021 after a faltering stint at the Titans, signing a lucrative deal after shining in Penrith.
According to the SMH, Parramatta powerbrokers are preparing to table a two-year extension to Cartwright in a huge reward for a strong 2023 campaign.
“I don’t want to be going anywhere else,” Cartwright said.
“I love Parramatta, they gave me a chance when I had no one. I’ve got some really close friends here and I love (coach) Brad (Arthur), all the coaching staff. So I’d love to stay here.”
Reports also suggest Cartwright’s extension would have already been signed if the CBA and salary cap moving forward was finalised sooner.
Star halfback Mitchell Moses also hailed Cartwright for being able to adapt his game and play “tough”footy on an edge.
“I feel that comfortable next to him. The footy he’s playing at the moment is a credit to him. The style of footy that he has had to adapt to and change to, what he’s doing now to what he used to do, it’s massive,” Moses said.
It’s a big thing. The footy that he used to play, to just put that aside and play with the tough mentality that he’s doing, I feel that safe out there next to him.”

I seriously am not expecting a win this week but if they win that will be a bonus. Cowboys beat an ordinary Eels 24-16 Talking points * Waqa Blake two errors in the first 20 minutes. He should never play top grade. * Too many errors. * Late comeback with 2 tries. * Janitor is a dud. * 8th on the ladder and the Storm in Melbourne next week.

The score was flattering to the Eels who never looked a chance in that game. Waqa Blake is downright pathetic and should have never been picked. Can only blame a turd for that error. Lucky to be 8th on current form. They are a chance to beat the Storm who are not very good either. The turd still festers in the toilet bowl making poor decisions but is still comfortable in his position at the club
