I think Sivo is back in June. Still a long way off. How the hell gutho thinks this is the best team ever is beyond me. 2 games, 2 lousy performances is not a good start. Hodgson was a really good player but I feel his days are done. Mahoney is a huge loss. He has been the Eels best player so far this season. The Eels team has big potential and most experts see that, but they will never deliver thanks to an ordinary coach. If the mop and bucket stooge lost to the Panthers by 2 points in the finals, but I believe they were never going to win cause they couldn't crack the Panthers defence, could you imagine what a good coach could do. Might have beaten the Panthers by 10 points. Like I said the 2001 Eels team didn't have Johns, Fittler or Lockyer, but a decent coach and they made the grand final.

the funny thing about the 2001 GF was that a decent coach was out-coached by a lousy coach and we ended up with the lousy one who proved how lousy he was. We have a long history of lousy coaches, and it keeps going.

We have a long history of lousy coaches, and it keeps going. Michael Hagan was one of the worst coaches in the modern era. He just inherited a great team captained by Andrew Johns. He wasn't half the coach of Brian Smith. That annoys me a little, good players and coaches never winning a title but lesser figures in the game winning the ultimate prize - a premiership. No way was William Hopoate a good player like Hindmarsh, Cayless and Burt, but he won a title, the others didn't.

Hopoate like Hagen stunk. The stupid thing was that the Eels signed Hopoate before his 2 years of Mormon service and in that time he lost it as a player. The gambles never work for the Eels. Dont gamble just make sensible moves. Foran was probably a sensible move but that failed miserably.
