Round 10, 2007: Parramatta 44 d Nth Qld 14
ABC.net.au
Parramatta ran in seven tries to three in a 44-14 hammering of North Queensland in their round 10 NRL encounter at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Cowboys dearly missed the influence of playmaker Johnathan Thurston and forwards Carl Webb and Jacob Lillyman, all on Origin duty, as the Eels ran roughshod even without Nathan Hindmarsh and Jarryd Hayne.
Full-back Luke Burt piled on 24 points from two tries and eight goals to crack the 100-point mark for the season.
The game was all but in Parramatta's keeping at half-time when they had opened up a 20-4 lead with Feleti Mateo, Ben Smith and Mark Riddell crossing for four-pointers.
Burt extended the Eels' lead to three converted tries with a penalty to open the second half before the home side really began to turn it on against a tired Cowboys defence.
Chad Robinson exploited weary veteran Jason Smith by stepping inside him to stroll over, only for the former Raider to hit straight back when he put Aaron Payne through a hole, the hooker off-loading to Scott Minto in support.
The two teams then traded tries again with Riddell grubbering for Burt and Graham crossing for the Cowboys.
PJ Marsh came into his own late in the game for the Eels, putting Burt and Aaron Cannings over for easy tries to cap a comprehensive victory.
