Round 9, 1991: Parramatta 22 d Cronulla 12
Official Yearbook of the NSWRL
Parramatta sent Cronulla's semi-final hopes into a nosedive when they scored a stunning 22-12 win over the Sharks in another well attended promotion in Perth. It was the fourth time the NSWRL had taken a high profile game to the Western Australian capital since 1988 and for Parramatta, it was their second appearance. Like their first visit there, the Eels flew home winners. This time round it was the veteran Brett Kenny who was the destroyer. With new life breathed into his game as a lock forward, Kenny was heavily involved in a number of Parramatta tries and probed for openings all night. It was make or break time for Cronulla, but once again they left all their best form on the training paddock back at Caltex Field and they failed to show anything of their best. Parramatta had the match well in their keeping at 22-4 after an hour before the Sharks staged a late rally. Halfback Jason Bell, second-rower Peter Johnston and winger Michael Erickson supported Kenny well in the Eels' second win in as many weeks.
