Round 15, 1990: Parramatta 40 d Gold Coast 0
Official Yearbook of the NSWRL
Parramatta hit 40 for the second week running and the Gold Coast slumped to their 11th consecutive defeat at Parramatta Stadium. From the time young winger Scott Mahon scored for Parramatta after nine minutes the game was a classic mis-match. Parramatta piled on 20 points in the first half and 20 in the second to race away to a 40-0 win, just seven days after thrashing Easts 42-12. The Eels' pace out wide and their superior strength in the forwards meant the Seagulls never received a look in. Despite the magnitude of the Eels' win, coach Mick Cronin was not getting carried away with the team's form. He was concerned that Parramatta had developed some bad habits once the game had opened up, attempting plays that would never have been "on" against leading teams. The Eels' forced play cause a glut of dropped balls and the score would have been much greater had they stuck to regulation football. Danny Crnkovich, Scott Mahon and fullback Glen Liddiard were far too pacy out wide, while rookie hooker Bill Greentree was always a threat in tight.
