Round 25, 1987: Parramatta 34 d St George 16
Official Yearbook of the NSWRL
St George coach Roy Masters said Peter Sterling was 'the difference' between Parramatta and St George as the Eels scored a convincing seven tries to two win at Parramatta Stadium. Sterling was at his scheming best, engineering all the Eels' attacking raids, kicking for touch with his usual precision and tackling until fulltime. The scoreline flattered the Eels a little, however, as they were at times scrappy and disorganized and forced too many passes. Coach John Monie said they wouldn't have beaten any of the top teams on that performance. Parramatta got off to a dream start when speedy winger Tony Chalmers sprinted 75 metres to score inside the first minute of play. From then on the tries flowed steadily, and although St George pulled back to trail 14-10 at halftime, the Eels were never seriously challenged.
