Peter Sterling was close to football perfection in an inspiring game for the Eels.
Parramatta trotted out new-found aggression against their near-western neighbors, and halfback Sterling was a master controller.
He master-minded the first three Parramatta tries, and had Brett Kenny as a superbly in-form running mate all the way.
Kenny, whose defensive work was exceptional, ran Sterling to a photo finish in a high quality race for man of the match.
Kenny delivered a spectacular coup de grace in the 79th minute of the match.
With Parramatta already safely 'home' he half-volleyed a Penrith kick-through, stepped two defenders, and ran 90 metres to score.
The final scoreline provided the only real breathing space for the Eels in a tight game.
It was 12-10 their way at halftime, and stayed that way for almost half an hour afterwards.
Alexander, Vitanza, Geyer and Cartwright played soundly for Penrith.
