Round 11, 1987: Parramatta 12 d Norths 5
Official Yearbook of the NSWRL
The premiers were relieved to scramble away with the two competition points after a poor match. Dropped ball, and scrappy play punctuated the 80 minutes - although it was hard-fought enough. For Norths it was one of 'those' games. They were in it all the way, had their chances to win, but let it slip away. The Bears led 5-0 after a field goal by Cannon, and a neat blind side try created by Graham and Dorahy for Andrew Simons. The Bears were ahead 5-2 into the shadows of halftime. But then the most exciting passage of play in the game brought a try for Eric Grothe, although there were questions about the final pass from Mark Laurie. It was 6-5 for 35 minutes. Then Parramatta locked it up with a Brett Kenny try, set up by Peter Sterling. Parra had won...the points were on the board...but no one was too thrilled.
