The generalship of Peter Sterling earned Parramatta their second win of the season as he marshalled his forces and gave Souths a 19-6 hiding at Redfern.
With a maligned pack of forwards boring through the Souths pack, Sterling was on the forward move all day, allowing him time to plot and probe.
Sterling overcame a painful neck injury which had hounded him for weeks to be the dominant factor in the game.
Souths' forwards didn't put in the work of their committed opposition and paid the penalty. Losing Ian Roberts with a leg injury five minutes before halftime didn't help their cause, however, and although prop Les Davidson tackled strongly, he was still feeling his way after a lay-off through suspension.
Parramatta's backs carried on the work of the forwards and scored three tries in a commanding performance.
