Round 22, 1978: Parramatta 62 d Newtown 18
Rugby Leaguer 23rd August, 1978
Parramatta certainly showed the Newtown players how to score tries last Sunday at Henson Park, when they went over for 14 in the afternoon. The Jets just didn't have an answer to Parramatta's strength and they paid the penalty. Eels' hooker Ron Hilditch was the star of the day crossing for three well-deserved tries and walloping Barry Jensen 10-4 in the scrums. "Mighty" Mick Cronin came within an ace of breaking Eric Simms' record after taking his tally to 260 points. Cronin was called back for a forward pass in the first half when a try under the posts was a certainty. Graham Olling, Bob Jay, Greg Heddles, Graham Murray and Neville Glover were other stars in a top team display.
