Round 13, 1977: Parramatta 17 d Newtown 8
Big League Magazine 25th June - 1st July, 1977
The mud and slush of Cumberland didn't worry the locals when Parramatta beat Newtown 17-8. The Eels retain their six point lead in the premiership and Newtown stay on the bottom. Newtown made a match of it and were level 3-all when Sigsworth scored in the 11th minute. By halftime Parramatta had gradually built their lead to 10-3 and by the 50th minute were in front 17-3. Newtown refused to give in and were rewarded in the final minute when Rod Pilon raced over. Parramatta, with players heavily involved in representative matches, played well at times and the heavy conditions suited them. Kolc, Olling, Hilditch, Baker, Gerard, Levy and Cronin had good matches. Pilon, Floyd, Sigsworth and Edwards played well for Newtown.
SCRUMS: Parramatta 10-9. PENALTIES: Newtown 13-12.
