Friday June 19th and a big crowd is gathering at Parramatta Stadium to witness the match between the Parramatta Eels and the touring Great Britain side. Parramatta are underdogs as the Lions have not been beaten by a club side, but the atmosphere at the stadium is one of anticipation-fuelled by the great win of Parra's Lee Oudenryn over hot favourite Martin Offiah in a 100 metre race. It was a night to behold, a night the underdogs were barking. History will show that Parramatta defeated Great Britain 22-16. It was a fantastic game with Parramatta thrilling the crowd with their enthusiastic attack, and dour defence. Tries were scored by Scott Mahon-after great work by Brett Kenny, Michael Buettner, Stu Galbraith (who found a hole in the defence when there wasn't one) and Mark Laurie. Michael Buettner also kicked three goals. It was a game which no one at the ground will forget. The entire team played well, and in a season which had more downs than ups, lifted the spirits of the entire community, and Parramatta fans around Australia. The team was: Danny Crnkovich Michael Erickson Scott Mahon Michael Buettner Lee Oudenryn Brett Kenny Stu Galbraith Mark Laurie Chris King Cameron Blair Greg Drake Shane Flanagan John Fearnley Replacements used - Mark Horo (who played most of the game), Phil Tiernan, Robert Muchmore and Ryan Schofield.
