Brad Arthur (Parramatta) Arthur played in the Parramatta juniors but was unable to break into the senior squad.
"I started playing in the halves with Parramatta SG Ball and moved to second row for four years, first with Parramatta under 21s and then in reserve grade for Penrith,” Arthur said.
He told the Daily Telegraph in 2012: "Royce Simmons was coaching Penrith when I played there for a few seasons before he advised me that I probably wasn't going to make it in first grade. It was tough to hear, but I prefer honesty."
Arthur played the rest of his career as a back-rower, spending two years as captain-coach for Batemans Bay in the legendary Group Seven competition on the South Coast in 2002, before becoming captain-coach with Cairns Brothers where he played in six grand finals, winning four of them.

The janitor never even made the top grade. This confirms he's even a bigger dud than most people realise. You have to at least make top grade to have the right feel for the game.
I don't think Mitch Cronin is related to Mick Cronin otherwise that would have been mentioned. Mick Cronin did have two sons but I don't think they made it to first grade.

I cant believe he played second row. He is a small guy. He never had a hope in hell of making it. He was probably moved to the forwards from Half because he was too slow, but to his credit may have defended well, something that he currently cant get the best out of the team that he calls himself a coach of. Janitors cant coach.

I like that SOO is after season. It makes the season longer.

I like that SOO is after season. It makes the season longer. Not really a big fan of State of Origin anymore. I definitely don't reminisce about past games and series. Still watch it though. The janitor doesn't even feel like part of the club. Brian "choker" Smith never won a title, but at least his presence was known because he could coach. The janitor is non-existent. Just some bald headed guy in the coaches box.

the security at all grounds should remove the janitor from the ground for impersonating a coach in the coached box. He is no coach, just a flusher of toilets.

I remember that. Cooper struggled after the Eels didn't sign him. Eels chief executive Paul Osborne revealed as much to this column yesterday - and then added the club collectively breathed a sigh of relief after watching Cooper's defensive effort against the Springboks.
"We came as close as his manager at the time Richard Colreavy telling me to go to the airport to get him to sign the contract," Osborne said last night. "There wasn't enough time, and then he went away to South Africa and that was the end of it. He came back and signed with the ARU.
"Our coach at the time, Daniel Anderson, said then that he couldn't tackle and was of the view it would take too long for him to adjust to league.
"I'm glad we didn't sign him after watching him last weekend."I don't watch any RU, but he mustn't be great, because the Wallabies have been miserable for years.

I was at that game. Eels and Brian Smith choked after leading something like 20-2.
