I tip the dogs by 4 because the Eels are coached by a janitor and I have zero confidence in the fool. I dont think the dogs will be as bad as most people are tipping either. I hate them but I think due to a lack of a coach the Eels will not be good enough. I dont tip them to make the playoffs either.

Eels at their best will demolish the Dogs, but maybe last years disappointing end will be too much for them this year? And as we have said a thousand times, it's not as if they have a great coach that can give them a fighting chance.

I think the Eels will play poor because they lack a coach. I agree if they played to there best they would kick the dogs ass. A coach that cant get them to defend is a huge problem.

With the team the Eels have, they really need a better coach. Imagine all the possible hidings they could give the other teams. 2001 season all over again, game over at halftime!! If the Eels can't beat an ageing an injured and mentally ill Kieran Foran and the Bulldogs, they're a joke.

I think they may well be a joke this season, I hate to say that but I have zero confidence in the janitor.

I think they may well be a joke this season, I hate to say that but I have zero confidence in the janitor. Game only 2 days away!! I'm excited about the start of the season and then the janitor's coaching will ruin everything. Expect a sluggish start to the year, but several wins mid season and then a mop and bucket crash and burn special in the finals.

Eels v Bulldogs: Waqa fit to start; Injured Dogs quartet named
Traditional rivals Parramatta and Canterbury meet in a Bankwest Stadium blockbuster to kick-off the new season.
Having risen from last to fifth last season, the Eels have widespread expectation to improve again and challenge for the title.
The Bulldogs showed promise at the back-end of last year and were left rueing a slow start as they missed the finals by three points.
They have their work cut out to topple Parramatta at home, though, with Brad Arthur men's putting many a team to the sword on the fresh Bankwest Stadium turf in 2019.
The Rundown
Team news
Eels: Marquee forwards Ryan Matterson and Reagan Campbell-Gillard make their official club debuts in the Parramatta pack while Waqa Blake has won his battle to return from off-season surgery and will take his place in the centres. Maika Sivo also takes his place on the wing after being cleared to play by the NRL. The Eels will go into the clash with a monster bench featuring Brad Takairangi, Marata Nuikore, Kane Evans and Peni Terepo.
Bulldogs:Brandon Wakeham has been named to take Kieran Foran’s place at five-eighth and will partner Lachlan Lewis in the halves, pushing Jack Cogger to the extended bench. It's mostly good news on the injury front for the Bulldogs with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Christian Chrichton, Nick Meaney all back after missing the final trial and Jeremy Marshall-King taking his place in the starting side after seeing no trial action. But Sauaso Sue (knee) and Marcelo Montoya (knee) failed to make the 21-man squad, joining Raymond Faitala-Mariner (ankle) and Chris Smith (knee) on the sideline.
Key match-up
Clint Gutherson v Dallin Watene-Zelezniak. Both men are leaders. Gutherson's strength is working with his fellow attacking players while Watene-Zelezniak boasts a running game capable of lifting any team.
For the Eels to win
They'll take confidence from last year but Parramatta will have to crawl before running again in 2020. If the Eels do the basics right, we know they've got the firepower to blow anybody off the park.
For the Bulldogs to win
It was Canterbury's gritty defence that inspired their late-season charge in 2019 and more of the same is required if they're to get off to a flyer. The kicking games of Lachlan Lewis and Brandon Wareham will be crucial given Parramatta boast one of the best back fives in the competition.
Brett Kimmorley says
I'm expecting Parramatta to make Bankwest Stadium a fortress again in 2020. Mitchell Moses would have already benefited from Andrew Johns's tutelage, while Reagan Campbell-Gillard could return to the best prop in the game at his new club. Eels by 8.
Stat Attack
The Eels had plenty of individual chart-toppers last year, led by Mitch Moses finishing first in try assists (25), kicks (343) and kick metres (9,413). Maika Sivo was the NRL's leading try-scorer (22), Reed Mahoney topped the tackle count (1,221), while Junior Paulo was equal first in offloads (59) with Bulldogs back-rower Corey Harawira Naera.
And another thing ...
The Eels' top-four hopes were dealt a massive blow in round 23 last year when they were upset 12-6 by the Bulldogs at Bankwest Stadium. It was just the second loss all season at Bankwest for Brad Arthur's men as their much vaunted attack was restricted to a single try by a red-hot Bulldogs side which was coming off impressive wins over the Panthers, Wests Tigers and Rabbitohs.

I seriously dont know that it will even be a good game. I just feel there will be a huge disappointed in a great team that the Eels are when they lose to a scum team in the dogs who are ordinary. I just feel that many teams will out-coach the Eels this season until the shit kicker is gotten rid of.

Bulldogs duo stood down over teen sex scandal By Adrian Proszenko and Michael Chammas March 10, 2020 — 4.25pm
Canterbury stars Jayden Okunbor and Corey Harawira-Naera have been suspended indefinitely for having consensual sex with high school girls during the club’s trip to Port Macquarie.
The players are not the subject of a criminal investigation given the girls were not under the age of consent, which is 16 years of age in NSW. No complaints were lodged to police, the club or to the NRL.
However, the Bulldogs have issued breach notices after the players broke the club’s code of conduct and they won’t be considered for selection for Thursday night's NRL season opener against Parramatta. Okunbor and Harawira-Naera have been given seven days to respond to the breach notice.
The incident occurred in the lead-up to the club’s final trial against Canberra in Port Macquarie. The Herald was told the players met the girls during one of the club's school visits in the lead-up to the game. The parents of the girls involved are aware of the incident.
The incident was brought to the attention of Canterbury management on the Friday night before the trial, prompting a club investigation that included interviews with the players.
Okunbor and Harawira-Naera, who were in Port Macquarie with their teammates for five days as part of the trip, took part in the Bulldogs’ 12-10 loss to the Raiders at Port Macquarie Regional Stadium.
The Bulldogs, who informed the NRL’s integrity unit of the matter, have opted to sideline the pair despite the fact no laws were broken.
“Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor have been stood down by the Bulldogs after each was issued a show-cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the game’s code of conduct,” Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill said.
“Both players have been provisionally suspended by the NRL and neither player is available for selection for Thursday night’s NRL season opener against Parramatta.
“The Bulldogs referred the matter to the NRL Integrity Unit after receiving concerning reports of alleged misconduct by the two players. The club also initiated its own internal review.
“While neither player is the subject of a criminal investigation, the club is treating the matter very seriously. The allegations are that each player engaged in behaviour that represents a serious breach of the NRL rules and the Bulldogs’ code of conduct, resulting in the NRL notice.
“The club supports the NRL’s decision to issue the breach notices and will continue to work with the NRL to conclude the process. Both players have an opportunity to respond to the matters alleged in the breach notice before any final decision is made.”
The timing of the incident couldn’t be worse as the Bulldogs prepare for the opening round of the season against arch rivals Parramatta.
I guess the Eels are a better chance of winning since they are coach-less.

Clint Gutherson column: It's hard not to dream about grand final glory
Author Clint Gutherson Eels captain
I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about lifting the Telstra Premiership trophy and being the man who leads the Eels to glory after a 34-year drought.
It's hard not to think of it sometimes - especially when everyone keeps reminding me how long it's been since we've won the comp!
I was joking with Roosters captain Boyd Cordner at the NRL season launch about how many times he's held the trophy up.
Boyd said he wanted more success and that's inspired me to work harder to make it a reality for Parramatta.
We're aware of the high expectations on us to challenge for the title this season, but it's still business as usual. There's going to be pressure on every team and you have to learn to live with that.
The boys are excited after a long, tough off-season. It's crucial for us to get a few early victories to build our confidence and then I'm sure we'll be fine. We're prepared to win ugly to do that.
We've been boosted by the signings of Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Ryan Matterson, but as great as they are, it will probably take a few rounds for them to find their feet in a young forward pack.
It's going to be the same for most teams; combinations won't click right away. It might take four or five weeks, and that's why it's so important to scrap hard at the start and get on a winning roll.
Reagan has been playing at the top level for a while now and Matto has won a comp with the Roosters, so they'll bring a lot to our side. It's exciting, but there's a long way to go.
As captain, I'll continue to lead by my actions. I've never considered myself the best player, but I stake my pride on giving absolutely everything from the first minute to the 80th and that won't change.
I speak up whenever I need to but I often leave the talking to the senior boys like Michael Jennings and Blake Ferguson, who have been around the game a lot longer than me and won comps.
That takes a lot off my hands and makes my job easier. At 25, I'm still learning about leadership as I go. I'm going to get some things wrong, but it's about improving on any mistakes.
It was a unique and often tough journey to becoming Eels skipper, but it's made me the player and person I am. Even at my lowest point after suffering my second ACL injury in 2017, I always had the belief I could get to where I wanted to go.
The next goal on my personal list is to play State of Origin. Being 18th man in NSW camp last year made me hungrier to achieve that dream. And if Parra are going well, it's only going to help my chances and that of my teammates.
All the boys have ripped into training over the summer and I reckon a few of our young guys are ready for huge years.
Props Oregon Kaufusi and Stefano Utoikamanu have been awesome, while Reed Mahoney and Dylan Brown are going to reap the benefits of another pre-season.
Now it's about making all that hard work count.

I'm expecting an Eels win, but there will be plenty of errors. Sex scandal with high school girls? That's a disgrace!! I hope they weren't underage, probably 18 year old's in year 12. Bulldogs are still going with the sex scandals. 2002 rape case and now this.

the dogs are dogs as usual. Nothing changes with those dogs. They are always hard for the Eels to beat, though. Now that those 2 are out I tip the Eels by 2 in a lousy game. Only good because the scores will be close.

Hardest team to predict? NRL.com experts have their say
Tanisha Stanton (NRL.com reporter)
Eels. There is so much expectation this season with the inclusion of Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Ryan Matterson and the form we saw last season from Mitchell Moses. In the past when the side has had high expectations placed on them and they haven't been able to handle that. Will things change?
