Shaun Lane's 2019 Report Card Author parraeels.com.au Shaun Lane joined the Eels at the start of the 2019 season, after formally playing for the Manly Sea Eagles, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and New Zealand Warriors. The second rower made an impact during his debut season in the Blue and Gold, scoring five tries and making an average of 109.9 metres each game. He linked up with Michael Jennings and Maika Sivo on the left edge, which quickly turned into a try scoring combination. Lane claimed the Jack Gibson NRL Coaches’ award for best forward at the club’s Ken Thornett Medal presentation. STATISTICS APPEARANCES - 25 TRIES - 5 LINE BREAKS - 6 LINE BREAK ASSISTS - 6 OFFLOADS - 22 TACKLE EFFICIENCY - 88.4% AVERAGE RUNNING METRES - 109.9 I really like him. I would rate him one of the better forward signings we have made in some time. He has been a bit of a journeyman in the past, but I hope he keeps that form up and settles at the Eels for many years to come? Lane had a great season this year. Would like to see more line breaks, cause he has that ability.

That Isaiah Vailalo is impressive at schoolboy level. It is a huge difference between that and NRL level.
Mitchell Moses sure was good in the 9's under a coach that doesnt work as a janitor.
Neither the Storm nor the Roosters need to worry about juniors, because they have the know-how on what it takes to cheat and get away with it. The Evil Empire before the salary cap used to do exactly what the Roosters do now, go figure.

Isaiah Vailalo - when a player does stand out like that at schoolboy level, they generally do become very good players in the NRL. If you download Hayne and Inglis on YouTube and watch when they played schoolboy football, they were better than the rest and went on to play Origin. The only doubt - can Vailalo be given the right development at Parra to become a real standout in the NRL? Didn't watch the 9's. The Janitor must have been cleaning the restrooms during the series. Went back to his old job during the off season. I guess the next 20 years will still be Storm and Roosters. Why would anything change? I have added old Parra games to the site if you want to watch them. Menu at the top that says, YouTube.

Isaiah Vailalo, one to watch out for. If you ever hear or see anything about him please let me know.
I didnt watch the 9's either just saw the highlights. Moses was awesome.
Pretty boring 20 years ahead if it is all Storm and Roosters.

The janitor probably has no clue on how to get improvement out of his young guys. Moses goes awesome under another coach but will go back to the player we have seen all this season, not knowing if he will show up for the game or not. At least he is better without Norman around. I wonder if the janitor holds them back rather than giving them a license to do there own thing?

I wonder if the janitor holds them back rather than giving them a license to do there own thing? There is no way the Janitor improved these players. Moses played better this season, because Norman left, which gave him more responsibility and room to move. Same with Gutherson after Hayne left. Gutherson was having a great season in 2017 until he was ruled out with injury, but the following season was very quiet with Hayne in the team. Good to see the trouble makers off the field leave the club to give the others a better opportunity. Gutherson and Moses are way better than Hayne and Norman. And again, credit cannot be given to the Janitor, because it was a no brainer, Hayne was getting old and Norman was useless.

the janitor has reached his full potential and it is well short of the major prize. Why the front office renewed his contract for 2 more years is beyond me. Very very stupid decision.
Hayne was still quite good in his last season but he isnt a team player, very individual. Norman was a curse for years and it was good to finally get rid of him. One of the better decisions the front office has made.

One of the better decisions the front office has made. The front office believes going from 16th to 5th is success, but still no premiership since 1986. The Janitor is like a student in school that achieves 60% in a final exam - studies the easy to medium stuff, but doesn't bother with the difficult. Janitor needs to study and concentrate on the defence, not just the things he can do. Glad Hayne and Norman are gone. Both lack intelligence off the field. Not good for any club.

going from 16th to 5th is a step in the right direction, to achieve anything greater is a lot harder. The Eels had a pretty easy draw this season, I dont think they will get the same next season. I honestly dont feel they will make the playoffs? If that is the case, what is the lame front office going to do?

If the Eels this year played the Storm and Roosters twice, the result would have been 0 from 4. Definitely an easy draw this year - Bulldogs, Dragons, Panthers, Knights, Wests Tigers and Broncos twice. I don't think they'll make the playoffs either. The Janitor has no consistency about his coaching. Wooden spoon to 5th with almost the same team!!

so we both agree they will not make the playoffs, we cant bet, damn it. When they dont mske the playoffs with the best backline in the NRL what is the front office going to do? I hope they dont keep that lame janitor on.

I can make a Janitor of the year avatar, maybe.
