As for the Eels… They’re the only team that might run last of this terrible trio. Don’t get me wrong, they are a top-four side, as evidenced by their finishing third and fifth the last two years, and running fourth in 2017.
So why talk down a team that already features the likes of Dylan Brown, Nathan Brown, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and added exciting Kiwi Isaiah Papali’i? Because, as you may have noticed, the one year I’ve left out in their recent run is 2018, when a squad with top-four talent somehow managed to come last.
They have no business being in the conversation and I doubt it’ll happen but Parra have a way of making the impossible seem easy – just not in a way their fans would ever particularly enjoy.
I mean, does anyone else think it’s telling that the NRL have created a documentary called Eels 86: The story of Parramatta’s last premiership? Sure, ‘most recent premiership’ isn’t as succinct a title, but ‘last’ has a finality about it that makes me wonder if top brass know something the rest of us don’t.

Yes the Eels bombed out of the playoffs as usual last season, but do you honestly think they deserved 3rd position on the ladder?

Oh my god, the Eels supporters are a bunch of billy bobs. They just cant see the facts through the trees. I doubt the fools will be storming the club any time soon. I guess like the emperor it takes 30 years of incompetence. Why does it take so long to accept the facts? I actually dont think Kenny's second try was a double movement, I think it was momentum. The flushing hallucination is real and it doesnt matter what great players may come to the Eels, they are doomed under this failing flusher. Eels should have won at least 10-2. They were the better team all year and in that grand final. Bulldogs only played good in the last 10 minutes of that game. Steve Mortimer rallied his Dogs, but they lost. The flushing dunny roll man has named his squad. Three new starters!! Eels might get rolled by the Broncos.

Eels won't get anywhere near the grand final this year. I've already written them off based on the Panthers trial game. They had nothing in attack. Eels struggle to find a way to score, even a line-break is difficult. Eels have to be the best team with no originality. No one steers the ship in that team.

it is a tough deal being an Eels supporter under this hierarchy. They all have no idea, the problem is that the supporters dont have any idea either, where is the pressure for the Eels to perform? It may come in the form of 80's great telling it like it is but nobody listens as they are irrelevant to the club. I like that article that I posted about the Eels, it is the truth and if you read between the lines extremely damning. One person has got it right other than you and me. Not much to build on 3 people against a bunch of billy bobs. This will be the flushing dunderheads 8th season, we need to wait another 22 years before the supporters wake up.

Well, you saw that reply to my YouTube comment, I stated the obvious and Eels fans either critizised what I said or still believed in the flushing disaster of dunny pans. I'm sick and tired of not winning premierships, the 80's was so good I thought it would continue but nothing since. It's OK to lose grand finals as long as you win one within 10 years, but the young fans that saw the Eels lose in 2001 and 2009, still haven't been made up to them.

Overall, this season will once again not be the Eels’ year, however, they will almost certainly make the finals and possibly be in contention for a top-four spot. But you agree it won't be their year!! All these top 4 predictions for the Eels and they have a tough draw. What are the experts thinking?

Broncos v Eels: Croft handed halfback job; Opacic to start at centre
Wooden spooners Brisbane approach the official launch of the Kevin Walters era against Parramatta at Suncorp Stadium full of hope but unable to completely banish the doubts after a Jekyll-and-Hyde trial performance.
The Broncos looked slick and sharp while racing to an 18-6 half-time lead against North Queensland at Redcliffe but after the break it all fell apart, opening the door for the Cowboys to score 28 unanswered points.
But Walters chose to look on the bright side after the second-half face plant, with fullback Jamayne Isaako, halfback Tom Dearden, centre Tesi Nui and hooker Jake Turpin all impressing.
The Eels couldn't quite keep up with 2020 minor premiers Penrith in their final trial hit-out but coach Brad Arthur was unconcerned, blaming the clunkiness in attack on the ferocious pace of the game.
The Rundown Team news Broncos: Brodie Croft will get first crack at the No.7 jersey and partner Anthony Milford in the halves. Herbie Farnworth has been named at centre having recently undergone surgery on a chest infection. Veteran David Mead will return as a Bronco on the left wing while 19-year-old Tesi Niu has switched to right centre in the absence of Kotoni Staggs (ACL).
Thomas Flegler has been cleared after copping a knock in the trial but fellow prop Payne Haas is suspended until round four. Former Origin winger Corey Oates spent most of the off-season training as a back-rower in the hope of shifting to the forwards but he has missed the 21-man squad.
The Broncos are striving to break a club-record 11-game losing streak.
Eels: With veteran Michael Jennings suspended for an alleged performance-enhancing drugs violation, former Cowboy Tom Opacic will start in the centres. Former Titan Keegan Hipgrave was named for his Eels debut from the bench alongside ex-Warrior Isaiah Papali'i, who will fill the hole left by Marata Niukore's suspension.
Bryce Cartwright (jaw) and Michael Oldfield (knee) are projected to return sometime around round four. The Eels are aiming for four straight wins against the Broncos for the first time since 2000-01.
Key match-up Tevita Pangai Jr v Ryan Matterson: Combustibility will run head on into consistency when these two star back-rowers meet in round one. Pangai Jr is devastating when on song but too often his game goes off the rails. Matterson, on the other hand, just keeps churning out the metres and racking up the tackles while also picking up plenty of attacking stats. It will be interesting to see how his migration to the left in attack affects his output.
Stat attack The Eels dominated the offloading stat in 2020, their total of 303 a stunning 74 clear of the Roosters (229) in second place. Prop Junior Paulo claimed the individual honours with 54 offloads ahead of Newcastle's David Klemmer (45) a distant second and another big gap to Martin Taupau, Christian Welch and team-mate Ryan Matterson in equal third (35). The Broncos simply have to get Parramatta's ball-runners to ground as quickly as possible.
Reading all that - a loss would be embarrassing. Broncos don't sound dangerous at all based on their team line-up, trial performance and stats. Nothing but a 13 plus win will be acceptable.
