The emperor had a good way at totally dishonoring everyone from what was one of the best teams ever. Things havent really changed in the front office, now the suit wears long socks and shorts. The emperor had too deep pockets to wear shorts. The people finally saw through the Emperor which is when he got kicked off his throne. Two decades had passed without another premiership and someone had to go. Grave digger needs to realise if you don't produce success on the field then what you do in the front office means nothing.

Emperor may be gone, but the place is not much better. The football team is good but there is nobody there to show them in the right direction.
Grave digger obviously thinks he is on a good thing with the janitor, but will never win anything with that guy.

The longer the drought goes the more the Emperor can boost the club was not better off without him. Grave digger and the janitor won't deliver a premiership. Storm will annihilate the Eels in the finals.

The emperor lucked out with that 80's team and Jack Gibson, he then ran the club into the ground. It was there for all to see. He seriously has nothing to brag about, he can just deal with the fact that he is an asshole.
I dont think the grave digger is an asshole, I just think he is incompetent. I agree with you on the Storm in the playoffs.

I agree with you on the Storm in the playoffs. The Emperor played in some decent sides in the 70's, but some also very terrible sides. Won the wooden spoon in 1972, but played in grand finals in 1976 and 1977. He was a reserve in 1977. Ray Price had the last laugh, 4 premierships to Fitzgerald's 0 as a player. Grave digger seems a little young and inexperienced to be at the helm of a club.

Pricey definitely had the last laugh on the emperor, but the emperor ended is reign with huge bags of money that he couldnt put in the bank. I think the emperor is leading a more comfortable life than Pricey now unfortunately.
The grave digger needs to lose the long socks and shorts and grow up. He needs a lesson on ability in the way of coaching as well. Signing the janitor again so soon was quite pathetic. There are a number of teams that the Eels dont have a hope of beating this season. They have already beaten the Panthers and Knights, but want be able to do that again this season.

Emperor has done better financially from football, but he'll never be held in high esteem with what happened on the field. I'm sure he was an OK player, but he was no Ray Price. Price was a try scoring machine with ferocious defence. Grave digger is looking good based on 10 wins and 2 losses, but that smile will be wiped off his face come finals time. Finals football is a completely different game and the best players rise to the occasion. Eels have a decent team, but not a premiership team.

He was a very good player in his time but definitely no Pricey.
The Eels have close to a premiership team but because they lack a coach they cant possibly win it all. I will be gobsmacked if they do happen to win it all. Teams have figured out the Eels with there lack of anything that can scare any team. There season will not go so well from here on, you watch.

The Emperor played for Australia in 1975 and 1977, but Price was more impressive at representative level. Eels will only win the premiership with a bit of luck just like today's game. If the Storm get a stack of injuries, then the Eels just have to worry about Panthers and Roosters, but I still don't think they'll win this year.

The emperor was never a standout for Australia, but he was a good player.
The Eels are getting worse as the season goes on, even though they were better against the Sharks than they were against the dogs. They didnt deserve to win either game.

The emperor was never a standout for Australia, but he was a good player. The Eels are getting worse as the season goes on, even though they were better against the Sharks than they were against the dogs. They didnt deserve to win either game. I remember George Piggins having a go at the Emperor in 1999 when the Eels were cashing in on Souths being punted from the game. The Emperor created an ad that said, "make history by attending the Rabbitohs last ever game this weekend at Parramatta Stadium". Piggins replied to the Emperor, "I don't ever remember you being a great player". Not sure if the Eels didn't deserve to win? I think the Eels are just playing the game based on the current situation during the game, if they're leading by many points they tend to slacken off, but when the game is close at the end, they defend really well and give the opposition nothing, but they still are dictating the terms and sort of still in control, if that makes sense.

Gorge Piggins had a big mouth and wasnt the sort of guy that would in any way like the emperor. Piggins was from the school of hard knocks and the emperor was from the school of "if you cant make me rich, piss off."
The Eels defense is definitely better this year but because they are not an 80 min team they still have there slack moments. I think what you say about them being in control was moreso the case earlier in the season. I think the Eels have been found out by many coaches and have struggled of late. I dont think the toilet flusher is capable of coming up with fresh ideas either. They are looking stagnant in so many ways at present.

Souths back then were tough, a very good team. I like that about the Emperor, "if you can't make me rich, piss off". LOL Eels will definitely make top 4, because team 5 is 6 points behind the Eels on the ladder. Making the finals won't be a problem, but they're not a finals team. You watch them lose because the better teams know how to go up a gear and also know how to win. So disappointing knowing they're not going to win again this year. If they had one superstar that could be the difference and then having a janitor as coach wouldn't matter.

I agree with you I think the eels will make the top 4. But once again they will only be making up the numbers and get blown off the field by the elite teams, that now includes the Panthers and maybe the Knights?
I dont know that the one superstar would make that much difference with the lack of a coach. The one good thing about a superstar is that they are very unpredictable and the Eels big time lack unpredictability. I wonder if the players realize that they are just gun fodder in the playoffs? I know the players like the janitor but I wonder if they realize the facts about him? He just doesnt know how to instill surprise tactics into this great team. I have said this a million times I know but cant find a way to get 80 mins out of the team.

Ponga is a great player, but Pearce is past his best and they seem to have many injuries this year. I'm waiting for the Panthers to burst their bubble. The players must respect the janitor because he's a decent guy, but like you say, he lacks a winnable game plan in the finals. Once Paulo and RCG are rested during the game, he won't have a back up plan for that 10-20 minute period. Our only hope is for the Storm and Roosters to not be the same teams they were in previous years.
