I have my doubts for 2 years. Maybe 1 year at best and see how they go? I also noticed that they are interested in Matt Prior from the Sharks. He is old and could be another Carl Webb signing. I dont like the idea of signing him. Look for someone younger. We need a Fui style prop. I realize they are hard to find, but do a world search for one. I loved watching him play. I agree. Prior is another Carl Webb signing. Who wants old players. Parra are set to sign Cameron Smith in 5 years time. Priority target: Eels eye Cronulla's Matt Prior to bolster pack SMH Parramatta are eyeing off former NSW prop Matt Prior for next season if salary cap pressures result in him being squeezed out of Cronulla. The Eels are looking to bolster their front-row stocks and have identified Prior and Penrith’s Reagan Campbell-Gillard as targets if they become available. The Sharks have already released contracted players Jayden Brailey and Kyle Flanagan to the Knights and Roosters respectively at the end of the season. Kurt Capewell could be another player parting company at the end of the season after fielding interest from Newcastle. While Paul Gallen’s retirement frees up some funds, the Shire outfit has a handful of players – including Shaun Johnson, Andrew Fifita, Josh Dugan, Matt Moylan, Aaron Woods and Wade Graham – taking up a huge chunk of their salary cap. The challenge of keeping the current roster intact is made even more difficult by the $350,000 penalty the club is carrying next year as a result of their salary cap breach. Cronulla powerbrokers would like to welcome back departing Newcastle centre Jesse Ramien but need to move at least one player to be in a position to table an offer. The Eels are keeping a close eye on the situation, earmarking Prior as a forward of interest if he is granted permission to speak with rival clubs. Prior has 12 months remaining on his deal but the opportunity to secure his long-term future could hold appeal. The former Dragon has been a consistent performer throughout his career and is just two appearances shy of reaching the 250-game mark. The 32-year-old played State of Origin last year and was a leading light in the premiership-winning team in 2016. Parramatta are still in the mix for the services of Campbell-Gillard, but it remains to be seen whether they will come to terms with the Kangaroos prop. "RCG" is on a contract worth in excess of $4 million over the next five years and the Eels would expect the Panthers to contribute for the transfer to happen. The Eels were well down the track in negotiations with Melbourne’s Christian Welch regarding a $1.5 million, three-year contract, but pulled the deal after he suffered another season-ending ACL injury. The addition of a marquee forward would be a huge boost to a side that confirmed a finals appearance with a solid 36-12 victory over the Gold Coast on Friday night. The Eels can keep alive their hopes of a top-four finish if they defeat traditional rivals Canterbury at Bankwest on Thursday night. Off the field, the Eels are hoping to push through changes to the constitution of the Parramatta Leagues Club that it is hoped will ensure the stability and prosperity of the football outfit. In a letter to members, Eels chairman Sean McElduff encouraged all voting members to attend the reform vote on September 10. “This is one of the most important meetings in the Parramatta Eels’ recent history as eligible PLC voting members will have an opportunity to endorse important governance reforms that will ensure that the stability and growth that we have achieved over the last 2.5 years in the football club continues,” McElduff wrote. “The Parramatta Eel’s current independent board members, management, staff, players and coaches are united in their support for the proposed reforms … “Most of you know that we have not had a stable environment during our recent past history. It doesn’t really matter how or why this happened but the facts remain that during the period between 2009-2016, the Parramatta Eels had: 5 coaches; 6 CEOs; 25 Directors; and 5 Salary Cap breaches. “Whilst some level of change is necessary, the constant changes in leadership that occurred over this period of time created too much instability and uncertainty for our coaches, management, staff and players and our performance on and off the field suffered.”

I know none of the front office was there at the time when Carl Webb was at the Eels but I sure wish they would look at old footage of him. Prior could possibly be the second worst signing in history. Welsh who got injured for the Storm would be a much better signing but they have lost interest in him. Jai Arrow would be the best signing.

The dregs of the barrel. Don't like those signings.

no I dont like those signings either. They may be better off signing a couple nobody's from Tonga who could turn into a couple Fui's. They would come cheap and Fui started out as a center before he was a prop.

He wanted to fight the entire Bulldogs team. Maybe a few more Nathan Brown's.

Ma'u would have been really good if he caught the ball more. What a rabble that game was. I thought the dogs would win 5 minutes into the second half. The Eels looked pretty pathetic. Nathan Brown played angry but stupid, then again the rest of the team played stupid. They will not go anywhere in the playoffs if they play like that and dont deserve to be a top 4 team.

Parra lacked discipline and patience. I thought Paulo made good ground. He's a big guy. The Eels metres gained wasn't too bad, they always got out of their own end, but the execution in every set was terrible. Need to sign a few players who are cool headed under pressure.

Only being able to score a single try against a lame side like the dogs is just pathetic, and the playoffs are just around the corner. BA is one lousy coach.
They do definitely need some more cool headed players. They looked panicked the whole second half.

BA halftime speech produced zero points in the second half against an ordinary, but determined Bulldogs. That was definitely their worst loss of the season. And who's idea was it to talk up their chances - from wooden Spooner's to Premiers? Only Muhammad Ali was that good enough to talk it up, but still win. This is what happens when Parra wins games, success goes to their head.

the Eels were down right horrible in the 2nd half. Like I said before, 5 mins into that half I knew the Eels would lose. The top teams like the Roosters are getting better for the playoffs, the Eels are getting worse. I blame the coach, and we have 2 more years of that fool after this year. I think we will lose the last 2 games of the regular season, going into the playoffs with 3 loses. Not looking good.

Broncos have plenty to play for, even though they're not the best and Manly are a quality side with a decent coach. No way will BA overcome this. If Parra win the last two games, I'll be surprised. At least Parra made the finals, that's about it.

The Eels will only be making up the numbers for the playoffs. They are not a worthy challenger for the premiership. The truth hurts, I guess I could lie about it and kid myself, but there would be huge disappointment there.

You only have to look at the Roosters to realise what you're saying is true. 28-0 against the Dragons by halftime and their passing and support play was mind blowing. Definitely the team to beat.

The Roosters have really come on in recent weeks. The Storm on the other hand hasnt looked so great, but they know how to turn it on in the playoffs. Luckily the Eels will not play either of them the first week of the playoffs. It could be embarrassing. Whoever they play first week they will probably lose but it will not be as embarrassing as playing the top 2 teams.

Their win against the Titans wasn't too convincing. If you're the Storm or Roosters, you don't have to worry too much about Parra, because the Eels are guaranteed to make errors during the game. A 80% effort against a 60% Eels team and it's a no brainer - Eels lose!!
