Kenny was a Souths supporter. Jamie Lyon was a Noel Cleal supporter, so followed the prick to the dark side. The worst thing about Jamie Lyon moving to the dark side was the fact that he won a title with them.

stabbed us in the back big time, always hated him after what he did. He hurt the Eels every time he played us after he went over to the dark side.

What a shame because he was such a good player. I never did understand what his reason was for quitting the Eels like he did?

I dont know why he left, remember living in the States it was almost impossible to get any news about the NRL back then. I'm sure there has been more than one reason / story, but I remember hearing that he was homesick for his country hometown of Wee Waa, but all of a sudden ended up in England playing in the Super League. Sterlo criticised Jamie by saying, how can you end up in such a far away place if you have fled because you are homesick? Wikipedia - Lyon made headlines when on 15 March 2004, after four seasons, 70 games and at the age of just 22, announced that he was retiring from Parramatta and the NRL. He did so just two days after Parramatta's round one 48–14 loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs and without talking to his team mates. He had around two years remaining on his contract. In reaction to the announcement, fellow country players Justin Hodges and David Peachey publicly supported his decision. With both players themselves taking breaks from the game, Hodges was quoted as saying that "footy does get a hold on you and it does get you down sometimes. People say it's the life but sometimes there's more bad than good. He's [Lyon] only 22 and he's from the country so it's pretty hard living in a big city like this. Even I struggled." Terry Hill added to the controversy when at the press conference to announce his own retirement, he predicted more young players would take Lyon's lead and leave the top grade. Lyon later said, "I definitely would’ve changed a few things with the Parramatta, the finish up there. It wasn’t the best way to go and, you know, I was still pretty young and I let my teammates and the club down out there and obviously I’d love to change that if I could, but I can’t and at that time I was just finishing up totally from footy, I wasn’t going to play anymore."Mid life crisis at 22?

the homesick story was a load of crap. At the time I wondered if it had something to do with BS? It was sad to lose him, such a good player, but what a pussy jerk.

Lyon does regret the way he left, especially not telling his teammates, but in my books he's still weak for not leaving in the right way.

he should be totally ashamed of himself. Do you think it had something to do with BS?

he should be totally ashamed of himself. Do you think it had something to do with BS? I don't think so. Even though BS was a choker, I can't remember any players complaining about him and not getting along. I don't think BS was a Bennett or Gibson type coach like a father figure, but I think the players respected him.

The home sick crap was a lie, I would really like to know the real truth? We'll never know!! Walking out the door and not telling your teammates was low. He should of left in the right manner. Just our luck he went to Manly and won 2 premierships. The curse of Parra.
