Parramatta Eels could move for Flanagan
The coaching merry-go-round has been settled for the moment - but the next round of movement is already being planned for further down the track.
And the big tip is for Parra to make a play for Sharks coach Shane Flanagan in 2020.
Brad Arthur enters the new season under immense pressure after collecting the wooden spoon this year and needs to win plenty of early games to retain his post.
The Eels are looking at contingency plans - with Flanagan likely to be their top pick if things go pear-shaped.
Flanagan has been in charge at Cronulla since 2010, leading the club to its historic maiden premiership in 2016.
He is unsigned beyond 2019 and probably due for a change after what will be his 10th season next year. And he is a former Eels player.
It’s a long way off being a done deal - but remember where you heard it first.

apparently he used to play for the Eels, cant say I am familiar with him as an Eels player, but he is a very good coach, just hope they dont wait around to see if BA does good next season and lose the chance to sign him.

he didnt play first grade I would imagine? Yes!! If you go to the players section on this site, you'll find Flanagan. Games - 33. Not many over a 3 year period. Must of played reserve grade half the time, unless he was injured.

what position did he play? Hooker. I think when he played that was round about the time they changed the numbers on the back of the jersey. Remember Hooker used to be 12, but now 9.

I remember when I was still in Sydney the numbers in English League were the same as what they are in Aust now. That could be why? Or they changed to bring it into line with the international way of jersey numbering. The change definitely happened in 1989. I googled 1988 and 1989 Grand Finals and in 1988, Wayne Pearce wore the number 8 jersey (old numbering for a lock forward), but in 1989 Benny Elias wore the number 9 jersey (new numbering for a hooker).
