BA was a backup coach at the Storm, funny thing is, so was Kearney, and look how it turned out with him. When the Eels were caught for cheating I will guarantee that they did not cheat as bad as the Rooster or Storm, but, they were run by a bunch of morons, and could not outsmart the system. Definitely!! Storm were something like $2,000,000 over the cap. Parra were nowhere near as bad as that, but still got caught and couldn't even get cheating right. When you cheat you're supposed to have such an unfair advantage you become successful. Parra won wooden spoons. If BA and SK were good, Storm would not have let them go. Or if they were good they would have the coaching job over Bellamy.

Bellamy is one of the best coaches ever, I remember him playing for Canberra. He was just an average player.
The Eels do everything wrong, even cheat. I remember back in the Fitzgerald era, when the salary cap first came about the Eels were over the cap but had just about the worst team in the competition. Talk about poorly run. Teams didnt get punished for being over back then. Canberra cheated and won competitions, the Eels cheated and nearly won the wooden spoon.

Remember their old ground - Seiffert Oval. That was a real dive. Yeah, I remember strong rumours the Canberra Raiders were cheating the cap during the premierships days. What about the Broncos in the early 90's? The players claimed they knocked back bigger offers from other clubs to stay at the Broncos, but their team was full of superstars. And then there is Parra - over the cap with Scott Mahon as their best player.

you really have to wonder about Fitzgerald, in the 90's? Was he only worried about lining his own pockets and the club could go to hell. Scott Mahon was a pathetic joke. The other players in the team were really laughable, and to be over the salary cap was laughable.

The other players in the team were really laughable, and to be over the salary cap was laughable. Fitzgerald should have been sacked long before he finally left. Mediocre results should never be tolerated. Fitzy was that bad, it took a super league war for Parra to be competitive again. 10 years of no finals football, 1987-1996. The last decade since the 2009 GF has been even worse with wooden spoons. Can anyone run a club? Scott Mahon and his goose step. Remember Mahon under the high ball. Every time the ball went high, you got nervous. He was the kind of player that could do something freakish, but the next time catch the ball and step over the sideline. Finally when Parra signed quality players for the 1996 season, Mahon left for the Cowboys a year later.

I dont remember Mahon playing for the Cowboys.
The only reason why the Eels didnt get any wooden spoons in that disastrous Fitzgerald era was because there were new teams that came into the competition and were very weak.

The only reason why the Eels didnt get any wooden spoons in that disastrous Fitzgerald era was because there were new teams that came into the competition and were very weak. Mahon played 2 years at the Cowboys. In 1997, Mahon joined the North Queensland Cowboys. He played only 18 games in his two seasons with the Cowboys and announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 1998 season.
Parra came close to the spoon a few times back then - 1991 - Finished 15th (2nd last) on 12 points, but Gold Coast finished on 5 points. 1992 - Finished 15th (2nd last) on 13 points, but Gold Coast finished on 11 points. *Gold Coast deducted two points in Round 3 (illegal replacement). If it wasn't for that deduction of points, Parra would have finished last because their for and against was worse. 1995 - Finished 19th (2nd last) on 6 points, Cowboys finished on 4 points.

Paul Gallen, Andrew Ryan and Jamie Lyon all went on to captain other clubs to Premierships. That hurts bad. Geez, even when Parra are truly gifted and have future great players starting off in their own backyard, they still stuff things up. Parra had it made!!

whoever we have at retention of players is another joke, fire the loser. He cant judge talent if it hits him in the face. Seriously, has any other club let so many really great players leave? I certainly doubt it. I think most of them left without any big attempt to retain them. Even lyon after his time in England wanted to come back to the Eels and they screwed that up.
What is happening with the signing of DWZ, is that getting screwed up as well? Not to mention the debacle, that was Gutherson signing again. Is the Moses thing getting screwed up as well?

Bulldogs letting go of Thurston was the worst. They would have won more premierships after 2004 with such a champion player. Worst decision their club has ever made. Who is DWZ? Haven't heard anything on Moses. Mannah has to go at the end of the year which will free up some money. Zero Tackle

DWZ, is the player from the Panthers that is captain of NZ.
I loved it when the Bulldogs let go of Thurston, couldnt believe it. Anyway he was only one player, I dont think any other team has let go of so many really good players like the Eels did. I dont really care about Moses if we retain him or not. You are right Mannah has to go to free up the money. We are in desperate need of some good props. I wish we good put Fui Fui in a time capsule and bring him back 12 years ago. I always really liked him.

Further to Last DWZ = Dallin Watene-Zelezniak Moses Mbye, looks on the outer at the Tigers, he could be a handy signing. Zero Tackle The Penrith Panthers have granted Dallin Watene-Zelezniak an immediate release from his contract to pursue an opportunity at another NRL club.
“As a local junior and a product of the Panthers development system, Dallin has given our club great service,” Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher said on the club website. “While we’re obviously disappointed to release him, we do so knowing it is in the best interests of both parties.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Dallin for his contribution at Panthers and wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Watene-Zelezniak played 106 NRL games and scored 41 tries during his time at Penrith. Not sure if I'd want Moses Mbye. I think Mitchell Moses is better when he steps up.

apparently the Eels are not in the running for him any longer. Tigers and Dogs are front runners and Cowboys are front runners for Mbye. The Eels have weak people running them, who obviously have weak negotiation skills.
