Darcy Lussick and Chris Sandow, 2 of the nightmares players the Eels have had the displeasure of signing over the years. There are so many more. Eels have improved with player talent since those days, but still need a big game player in the halves. Once again Eels best player is at fullback - Gutherson. Eels halves are too quiet and Mahoney is still young and inexperienced.

The Eels halves definitely have to do more on a regular basis. They are too quiet for too long. The biggest problem is still a lack of a coach. With a coach the halves may improve out of sight.

But the dunny pan man doesn't want anyone with coaching experience to assist. He must be thinking his one million a year will get halved if a good coach is brought in. No way will Kidwell threaten the janitor's position, smart move if you want to keep your job. Similar to a girl who takes an ugly girl with her to meet up with boys, the pretty girl will get all the attention. Andrew Johns obviously had an effect, because Moses did improve, but has worn off since. Need a good coach on a regular basis.

the grave digger needs to demand 3 coaches to help this bum. All that the janitor has to do is the interviews after the game and is just a figure head. I am sure he wouldnt complain about that.

Eels don't have a history of great coaches. Once had the best coach the game has seen, but since then only the "choker" was reasonable. John Peard, Mick Cronin and Ron Hilditch didn't go on to win premierships anywhere. SK was the worst and Ricky Stuart walked out the door. It's like since Gibson and Sterlo, the coach and halfback spots are impossible to replace. Should retire those two positions and every year play with no coach and halfback.

Gutho as captain coach would be a huge step in the right direction. I know that is very old school but it would be a huge improvement on what the Eels have right now.

Not something the NRL is familiar with. Maybe a few times back in the 50s and 60s that happened, but today a coach is definitely needed. A manager to oversee everything. A player determining the future of his teammates wouldn't go down that well. And coaches are generally older, played the game many years ago.

I think the last captain coach was Langlands. It may not be a consideration these days but I still think Gutho would be much more successful than that pathetic flusher. Isnt success the largest consideration?

Isnt success the largest consideration? Not sure how a player would go about playing and coaching? I think that Andrew Johns was that good and Michael Hagan a nothing coach, it was probably that way for the Knights in 2001. Johns was captain / coach. Not sure if Gutho is that good and experienced yet.

Hagan another pathetic coach at the Eels, the List of lousy coaches amazes me. Thank you Jack Gibson for being the exception. How about signing Johns to coach the whole team?

Johns is part of the commentary team, no way will he coach and risk his high income. Sterlo was doing commentary straight after his retirement in 1992, commentating grand finals with Ray Warren and Paul Vautin. Michael Hagan was a dud!! The Eels were so stupid they looked at his resume and said, "Wow, he has a premiership as a coach, let's sign him". Dumb assess, anyone with a brain knew that the Knights club in 2001 was still good from 1997 and had nothing to do with Hagan.

GET TIM SHEENS NOW> he is a proven success. Let's compare era's. 1980's Administration - The Emperor Coach - Jack Gibson Best player - Sterlo and Kenny Present day Administration - The grave digger Coach - The janitor a.k.a. the toilet flusher, the dunny man Best player - King Gutho No disrespect to Clint, but big difference!! Not going to win a premiership, until a change in the front office and coaching.

1980's should have included Pricey and the crow as well. I dont think any team will ever be that good again. I guess the emperor had to change his thinking after 1986 because he wasnt pocketing enough money for himself.
