he definitely isnt good enough to win us one of those. I am pretty sick of all the drama about his greed. Fox Sports ‘Boxing clever’: Eels’ ploy to hold off Manly’s Clint Gutherson poach Contract negotiations between Clint Gutherson and the Eels are turning sour after reports the club has put a deadline on his signature — the end of this week. The story broke on NRL.com on Monday, saying the club has tabled a three-year $1.95 million deal to their skipper with an ultimatum. The 24-year-old fullback has been linked with a return to Manly, and reports suggested Gutherson and his manager Ayoub were not made aware of the deadline. With Sea Eagles centre Dylan Walker now cleared of domestic violence charges and free to play, NRL360 host Paul Kent believes Manly are still working through their salary cap and are yet to table a formal offer to Gutherson. Walker is off contract at the end of the season and is no certainty to re-sign with the club, which would free up the space to land Gutherson. “Parramatta could be boxing clever, though,” Kent said. “They could be saying that they know there is an offer on its way from Manly, Manly haven’t arrived there yet because with the Dylan Walker matter and the rest of it, have been trying to figure out what’s going with their salary cap. “Whether Manly come to the table or not, I don’t know whether the Walker situation has changed things. “Certainly Manly were genuinely keen. “Eels might be trying to force him into a deal now that is real and alive before a possible Manly offer arrives, which will force them into a bidding war.” Gutherson is a Manly junior and made his NRL debut with the Sea Eagles back in 2013, but has been with the Eels since 2016, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite. This comes as coach Brad Arthur is set to sign a new deal with the club to remain until the end of 2021.

I am sick to death of the Gutherson thing. I guess it will come to a head by the end of this week.

the offer they gave him was really good, if that gets taken off the table he may not find anyone else getting close.

the offer they gave him was really good, if that gets taken off the table he may not find anyone else getting close. Wow, Guth has resigned. SMH Done deal: Eels announce Gutherson contract extension Parramatta has re-signed Clint Gutherson on a three-year deal, ending months of speculation over the captain's future. The Eels have now retained coach Brad Arthur and fullback Gutherson and will turn their attention to off-contract halfback Mitchell Moses, who also has a three-year deal on the table. Gutheron’s retention ends months of public and protracted negotiations, with the fullback accepting the offer after the club opted not to offer him the fourth year he was seeking. Manly was used as leverage to up his price but it’s understood the Sea Eagles never tabled him an offer and couldn’t match Parramatta’s money. Gutherson said he was relived the saga has ended. "I love the Club and our loyal fans, I love playing the game and I love my teammates so I’m very happy I’m staying," Gutherson said. The retention of Arthur was viewed as crucial in getting Gutherson across the line. “I love coaching Clint, the energy and commitment he brings to work every day is unparalleled," Arthur said. "His teammates look up to him and he sets a great example to the whole playing squad, I’m very happy he’s staying.” The Eels have been privately frustrated with Gutherson’s agent, believing he was behind an orchestrated public campaign to raise his asking price. However, both parties finally got a deal done. “We are delighted to have Clint remain an Eel, and we are keenly aware of what he brings to the club," said Eels CEO Bernie Gurr. "He is an asset to our team and a leader both on and off the field.”

funny that the deal is finally made including BA after such an embarrassing loss. Were Parra worried about losing Gutherson, so they threw a lifeline to BA? Remember, the BA decision wasn't going to be made until 30th June. Gutherson saved BA's career!! How many more years of BA??

I personally would not have signed BA to keep Gutherson. Parramatta blow it again. Just cant believe they decide to keep BA after that debacle against the Storm. The Tigers proved the Storm are not as good as they looked against the Eels.

Lets hope they come up with a better coach option after 2021, BA just aint the goods. We have to wait another 5 years? Well, it's been 33 years, why not another 5. The players just don't dig deep for BA. They have a few great performances here and there, but are not consistent.

they are incredibly inconsistent. After the way the Knights demolished the Dragons I dont even think that win over the Dragons was that great.
The players and the coaches had should tremble on pay day.

The players and the coaches had should tremble on pay day. I know, smashing the Dragons and Tigers doesn't seem that great anymore. And if they lose to Penrith this week, that will be an embarrassment and the season starting to shake.
