lets say we both agree on the Eels beating the Dragons. I think we will beat the Knights, but I dont think it will be easy. Parramatta star Clint Gutherson’s contract saga to come to a head next week. Parramatta will reportedly table a take-it-or-leave-it offer to full-back Clint Gutherson next week, with the full-back's response to have a domino effect on the futures of several of his Eels team-mates. More than half of Parramatta's 30-man NRL squad are off-contract at season's end but Gutherson's future has dominated the headlines after a contentious negotiation. It is understood the 24-year-old has rejected three previous offers, beginning with an outrageously low starting offer of $450,000 a season. Reports earlier this month suggested Parramatta had upped their offer to a three-year, $1.9 million deal. The popular Parramatta star agreed to give the Eels first crack securing his services before testing his value on the open market. There were reports his management had already begun shopping Gutherson to rival clubs. However, The Daily Telegraph reports the Manly junior is waiting on a final offer from the Eels next week. If the Eels are willing to up their offer to around $750,000 a season, or alternatively table a four-year, $2.8 million deal, it is understood the veteran of 72 NRL appearances will sign on the dotted line. Gutherson's manager, Sam Ayoub, told News Limited the 'ball is in (Parramatta's) court'. Meanwhile, the Eels are reportedly considering re-signing coach Brad Arthur before the club's self-imposed June deadline after a strong start to the 2019 campaign. According to Sporting News Australia's NRL Leaks, forward Manu Ma'u will re-sign with the Eels in the coming days. After shopping him around to rival clubs all off-season, half-back Mitchell Moses is Parramatta's other priority signing amid reports the club have tabled a three-year extension to the in-form playmaker. The 4-2 Eels travel to Newcastle to face the struggling Knights on Sunday.

only Parramatta can be this inept as signing one of its better players. The Eels are a feeder club for Manly and sometimes Bulldogs.

They really are a feeder club for both, even though I am enjoying seeing Lane play for the Eels this year.

They really are a feeder club for both, even though I am enjoying seeing Lane play for the Eels this year. Here we go!! That would be right - Paul Kent: The move that shows Parramatta Eels are ‘panicking’ over contract mess Paul Kent says there are signs the Parramatta Eels are beginning to panic over the contract negotiations involving its star players. Eight of the 17 players - including star halfback Mitchell Moses - that took the field against the Knights are without deals for 2020. Arthur himself also isn’t signed on beyond this year. Now there are reports the Manly Sea Eagles are set to table an offer for Clint Gutherson after the Eels captain rejected the latest contract offer. Speaking on NRL360, Kent said Eels fans had a right to be worried. “Mitchell Moses, his game last week against the Wests Tigers, probably threw another $100,000 on his contract,” Kent said on NRL360. “Parramatta, to show how naive and inexperienced they are at this negotiation process - this new lot they’ve got doing this - that night at 10pm they rang his manager and said “we have to meet tomorrow”.” “He wasn’t even in Sydney.” “It shows that they are beginning to panic a bit and it’s a real concern for Eels fans.” Eels coach Brad Arthur, however, denied the uncertainty around contracts was affecting performance. Speaking after the loss to the Knights on Sunday, Arthur said they lived in a “professional” era. “These blokes get paid to be professionals and roll up every week and put their bodies on the line and that’s why I was proud of them today. “We’ve got to do it again next week.”

Gutho, good to have known you as an Eel, but you can go to hell now you are going to sign with satan club Manly. Not official but I think Gutho is gone. Does this mean Parra will not be signing BA? If Parra were serious about both of them they would be signed. Looks like another clean-out at Parra. Another 5 year plan!! LOL

how many 5 year plans have we had over the past 10 years? I think it would amount to 50 years, LOL. Every coach Parra sign has a 5 year plan!! I think they're just milking the club for every penny they can get and by the time the club finds out they are garbage, they've made a stack of money while winning wooden spoons. Give me 5 years!! Give me 5 years!! By the 3rd year it's obvious there is no legit 5 year plan.

Frustrated Gutherson annoyed over contract saga: 'I'm not greedy'
A frustrated Clint Gutherson says he's been hurt at being labelled greedy over ongoing speculation around his future at Parramatta beyond the 2019 Telstra Premiership season.
Gutherson's long-term future has been dragged through the headlines over the past month, intensifying with every reported contract movement made by the 24-year-old off the paddock.
Gutherson refuted a Channel Nine report on Wednesday claiming the Eels skipper was due to meet Des Hasler to discuss the prospect of linking with Manly from 2020.
"I am very sick of it," Gutherson said on Thursday.
"It's never nice to be in the headlines, being seen as greedy hurts and hurts everyone close to it. Every fan takes it a different way, my family takes it a different way and everyone close to me take it a different way.
"It's a very serious time of my life, it sets up the rest of my life and I've got to take a look at it every way I can and do what's best for me and my family.
"It takes time and is a big part of my life. It's my career and I've got to take it seriously."
Gutherson conceded he was initially upset by the Eels' first offer after giving him and his manager Sam Ayoub an indication he was a priority re-signing at the club.
The Cromer junior dismissed talk he planned to meet with Hasler as a way of bumping up the Eels' latest offer.
"To be brutally honest yes it did hurt but to go out about it that way might have put me on the wrong path," Gutherson said.
"But it's part of the job and you've got to run with it. I haven't met with Des, I saw that on the news.
"I haven't spoken to Sam since after the game on Sunday. I want it done just as much as everyone here."
The uncertain future of Eels coach Brad Arthur seemed to irk Gutherson the most when openly talking to the media at a session on Thursday.
He indicated the growing speculation on his own deal couldn't drag on into the second half of the season.
"I don't know, they stated earlier in the season they were going to wait until the end of the year but I don't want this to hang around until then," Gutherson said of Arthur's deal.
"He's a massive part, I've stated he's the reason I come here. I love Brad, his family and what he's about in life and footy. It's a big part but has nothing to do with me, it's up to the club.
"The sooner that gets sorted maybe it can help."
Parramatta will be looking to bounce back from their upset loss in Newcastle last weekend when they host St George Illawarra at Bankwest Stadium on Sunday.

I understand he has to look after his future, but it is obviously starting to affect him on the field.

I understand he has to look after his future, but it is obviously starting to affect him on the field. If Parra aren't certain on the coach, how can any of the players be taken seriously? What a circus.

why is BA such an integral part of players staying? There are better coaches than him out there. The whole thing is a Barnum and Bailly event.
