I doubt it. Maybe in the books he earned more than what he actually got and the emperor pocketed the rest. That is my theory anyway? Would have to be that way, cause after Kenny retired in 1993 and Sterlo was gone a year before, the highest profile player was Cameron Blair or Stu Galbraith.

After Kenny and Sterlo, the Eels were a bunch of losers who didnt deserve much money at all. The emperor had to pocket money at the expense of the football team.
In reality Scott Mahon was not worth more than $10K a season and that is being generous.

Payment for hiring out the stadium for the day. 1994 and 1995 were dark days. Went to games both of those years and the Eels were easybeats.

I never followed Scott Mahon's career but I know someone else signed him after the Eels were done with him. How stupid was that?

The Cowboys sucked then so he was there to help them suck. He would not have been there for any other reason.

ARL sega video game in 1996 had a very weak Eels team. Remember playing the game and the only way to score was spreading the ball out wide every tackle until an overlap on the wing was created. Couldnt score or even make a break up the middle.

Eels were saved from a few wooden spoons by new teams. They in reality probably had a worse team than the new teams though.

The 95 team was a result of all legends retired and unable to replace those players. Kenny and Sterlo were recently gone. But the super league war changed everything!! The 96 season was the complete opposite.

The super league war actually made the emperor look good for 10 minutes. Unfortunately it didnt achieve any GF success.

What a turn around though, Dymock, Smith, Pay, McCracken, Freeman, Ritson, Raper and Johnston.

I dont remember for sure, but didnt more good players defect to Super League? You mean join Super League? Brisbane and Canberra joined SL so all those great players went across. Fittler and Johns were ARL.

Roosters and Knights stayed in the ARL, so didnt lose any good players from those teams.

Roosters and Knights stayed in the ARL, so didnt lose any good players from those teams. And Manly were playing grand finals at the time, three in a row. The ARL had more good teams than Super League. Also the Bears and Dragons. SL grand final, Broncos v Sharks, which was one sided.
